Dumas U.S. Army Harbor Tug Kit# 1256

I got this model at a club swop meet & plan on taking my time with the build .Someone had started the kit so first think to check was hull for leaks & sure enough it leaked because hull was two part anyway a little epoxy fixed that up It's a nice little kit so I'll just take my time I also will try to restore a wooden kit my son found at the Thrift Store it has a retractable keel & I guess the mast & sails had been smashed off not sure if I can R/C her or not . One last note take batteries out of Transmitters for the winter because this summer I had several that had leaked . I'm pretty sure no more sailing till spring O-NO .Happy holidays & Hope 2022 is a less scary year for all .

Dumas U.S. Harbor tug

Haven't posted progress in a while . I was upset with kit hardware for motor shaft & prop kit came with a 1/8 prop shaft & a 2 blade nylon propeller that look a wee bit silly . So removed propeller shaft & installed a 4mm shaft & stuffing boxtube had a 40 mm 3 blade propeller & changed the motor shaft coupling to a flex unit & installed the rudder servo too .Next time I have a bath I will be doing sea trials for model weight distribution.

Looking good. It is hard to believe that they sailed those little tugs across the Pond, in some fierce weather.
I understand why you changed what you did, but I will say that the Dumas dogbone system, which has been around for long than I have been building, is a very reliable, although a bit noisy, system. I have modified it, at times, by cutting a dogbone in half and extending it with brass tubing. Worked like a charm. it definitely qualifies as a KISS component.
