Creole Queen by Dumas build

Slowly sanding n glueing. Figure several more months work. I’m in California for the Grammys February so I’ll loose one or two months on west coast. I will glue main deck to hull next. Then set up paddles. Once that is done I’ll paint the cabins and attach them. Next will be railing n stairs ( assembled stairs already). I might get to pick material fir window curtains today. Hull came out nice. I’ll put rudder tubes in tonight. It is a lot of work. I need to clean shop floor of wood n dust accumulation tonight. Best model to build fir winter months. I still work as I own company but find relaxing on ship at night relaxing. I did ladders last nite while watching tv.

Cheap people HO sized looked good on my last one I built. They were a little pricy compared to these. I can repaint these or add stuff to make them different. In Las Angeles Burbank Hobby has a great collection of HO people. I’ll find more there too. Pic of real boat n people posted too.

    Hi Hhager2,

Your Creole Queen is coming out nicely!

I think adding figures to the boats adds to the realism of the model!

I like to 3D print my figures!

Its time consuming but, I like 3D Printing them!

She should look really nice with quite a few figures all over the model!

Creole Queen update

Started painting Ran out of paint. Did only first coat. Ran out of paint it just sucks it up. I’ll get more tommorow. Built the boom n mast today. Also did rudder posts. Paint over the weekend then put curtains on windows. Next week I’ll try to get main deck on. Then do cabins. Probably try to get stairs in place then railings, maybe.

Update

Have main deck finally glued. Started painting but it keeps soaking up the paint. Had to sand drips n repaint. All cabins sections are built, as well as paddle wheel. I put the modified belt gear on the paddle wheel. So once I paint it I can try the belt n see where motor goes. I added clear plastic to windows on back second deck. I also tried my hand at making curtains. Made the boom assembly and painted the wood boom. A lot of curtains to make. Still need railings n paint paint paint. A lot more work to do. I’ll post the next update. I also bought a Dumas Crocket ship. That will be the summer build. Assuming this one is done. That should be it fir building fir this year. Cheers

Give raw wood a coat of PVA...lightly sand then apply coat of undercoat, then top coats.
