I thought I might let everyone know how these arrived. The 1/72 were in cages with struts and the 1/43 were supported by minimal struts.

Good grieve! Seems like a lot of wasted material. Did you then cut and file the excess material off ? After the material is removed are the figures nicely detailed?
The support material breaks off very easily, cleanup with a file is rather quick, and 3Djson prints with a high resolution machine. Below is the 1/43 crew also from 3Djson for my rebuilt HMT Pert :
