Whilst on a Welsh holiday last week, my host gave me a box of bits and tha ABS hull from a Billings Calypso kit started many years ago . The fun starts identifying all the parts etc.Watch this space - maybe Mission Impossible!!!

I took mine from the kit and made a minesweeper. I was helmsman on it in early 1960’s one week a month n two weeks in summer. My uncle was navigator on that ship. Here are some pics. A little cutting at the bow was main surgery. The rest was plastic card. The engine room under the stacking made removable to access motors n electronics. You might want to do minesweeper as the Cousto ship was that originally. I used wood, bondo, plastic card strips to represent the vertical reinforced bow. The rest was simple to eyeball sizes of superstructure. I knew the bits like the floats n otters as well as what the life raft looked like. The kit had a few parts but the hull rails n cabins I just make from scratch , pictures n memory. I had thought of making a working sweeper rig with the floats ( look like airplane drop tanks) the cable drum held a black thick cable that made electronic pulse in water as it trailed ship. The washing machine at the bottom of stairs was carved wood. Have fun either way
