I'll tell you what, it's amazing what's inside this blue foam if you rub it hard enough, ohh Matron😂

Rivet spacing

Hi,
I've been searching for ages for something with loads of equally spaced holes in it to aid rivet spacing on my K7.
I was looking around a sewing department today & found this.
It's 12" long & all the holes are 1/4 apart.
Apart from the colour it's perfect 👍

Ohh how I wish I had some proper machinery 🤔
I've got some square brass tube that I need to put some accurate slots into, no way I can cut them at home so once I've decided exactly what I want I'll take it into work with a box of sweeties, wink wink.
The blue foam is used as wall insulation, if you can't find it in a diy store I'd hope any decent aero modelling shop would carry it.

Hi Wayne, good tip on the foam 👍 I'll start hunting right away.
Good luck with the printer, I haven't got beyond calibration yet 🤔
    Cheers Doug 😎

Steering wheel

Scratch built, 103mm diameter.
Outer wheel made from milliput & spokes made from plastic sheet.
Formed the milliput between some blue foam rings.

Well it's getting nearer, a little bit of filler to dress then all I need is a chrome dome nut👍
The 9 little nuts were made with Milliput in some rubber molds I have, my first practice using them.

First stage of painting, still need to do a black wash over the silver spokes & the outer hub.

Donald

I found this 1/4 scale Winston/Hank head in a local model shop for £3.50.
Needless to say I glued the front & back together &reinforced inside the head with plasticard. When set I chopped his head off & Dremel'd off the headphones & head strap. I've just filled the resultant gaps & strengthened around the chin & neck area with Milliput. Best leave it until tomorrow to harden up, I may just need to Milliput inside the hair line as I'm guessing I'll have to grind his hair away to fit his head in a helmet.

Been busy printing some 1/4 scale hands & im on with the animatronics for Donald.
The torso I bought but the instructions it came with were dire, the micro servos I bought didn't fit so I'm having to get busy with the Dremel, hopefully I'll have him moving this week..

Midlife306 Opening post 1

Bluebird K7

I found a 1/6 scale pilot on Thingiverse, a little bit of jiggers-pokery later & here is a low resolution head being printed at 1/4.2 scale.
It's not looking too shabby.
Think I'll do a high resolution version next weekend👍
Cheers
