This will be a scratch built inshore fishing boat. She will be rigged for trawling and netting.
The hull was purchased on Preloved for £20.
I will be making the model in the scale 1:12.
All elements will be scratch built with the exception of the wheel house which has been moulded by Andy at Models by Design.
I believe the hull is a Cygnus GM38 or very similar.

thickening the bullworks

I have used some thin PVA board glued to each side to strengthen the bullworks. This will be glassed over at a later date.
I have also started to prepare deck beams and shelf so all glassing can be completed at the same time.

gantry

I have made the gantry out of wooden baton and have grooved a channel in one of the legs to hide the wires for the lights. it will be painted and a small element of rust treatment applied at the last stage.

net hauler

I have made the net hauler using PVA craft board and some different size plumbing pipes. it is similar to a Hydema micro hauler

Trawl winch

The trawl winch is made from a mix of PVA craftboard, plastic plumbing pipe and wooden kebab skewers!
The end rollers were turned from metal on the lathe. I tried to get the large nut detail on the inside ends.
The warps will be added at a later stage once I have rusted the string!

wheelhouse

The mould was made by Andy at Models by Design.
I managed to aquire the plans of a GM 33 with the internal layout for the wheel house.
I have copied it in the main!
The cooker does swing!
I downloaded images of radars and radio fronts and stuck them onto painted PVA board.
I used poster paint mixed with 50% PVA glue to paint the interior.
The window surrounds were made from thin PVA board and the attached to the inside and out to replecate the sealed metal unit.
The door slides on runners.

Been waiting for a few parts to assemble the motor so while waiting I made a start on the other parts that can be done separately.. but it's so tempting just to put it all together to see what she will be like!!

Blocks

A little bit of work on the blocks in the afternoon sun! Once set they will be sanded and an eye put in the top. Then the usual paint and rust treatment! Used 0.5mm PVA board
