So, after a day of finishing off the wiring and battery fittings for the radar and lights, and adding the dummy lights and rigging to the mast, I feel I’ve done enough to consider this model finished. I have test floated it in the wife’s hot tub (cash cow!) and after adding 2x500g lead ingots I’ve got it sitting what I think looks right in the water.
Weather permitting Tomorrow I’m going to give her a run on the lake with a 2S and 3S lipo pack and see what’s what with scale speed ect. I’m thinking that 2S will be ample, especially as the new owner has no boat experience! Hopefully will get a few running shots in the can for a final update and hopefully a bit of video too.

I don’t get too sentimental over my boats Pete, I will always keep my Orca as I put a lot of work into it and for the sentimentality side of it being from my favourite film. Storage space is also an issue and I move onto the next project hoping to make it better than the last. My trouble is, I’m very critical of my own ability and sometimes feel that I could have done something better or different, I’m never satisfied!
Fully understand where you're coming from Sy, finding homes for my boats is becoming a problem, but I hate parting with any, they all have sentimental reasons for keeping, but looking forward to your next build.😊
So, today saw the Pilot Boat off to the lake for a test sailing. Pleased to report that on 2S, whilst not fast, probably fast enough for the new owner as a first boat. If I was keeping it, I would go 3S.
She zips along very nicely and was the brunt of many questions from walkers by! I have taken some video and will convert and add that at some point over the next day or so.
On to the next build soon.........!
