Masts,spars,rigging, etc.

Progress has been made on the masts, shrouds, rat tails, etc.
This required a lot of time and patience, involving the tying over 1000 clove hitches.
Now in the process of getting to know the ropes.
Working off the drawing is proving a challenge, having limited knowledge of ships rigging.
That said things are falling into place.
Please note I have found it difficult to get decent photographs due to the scale of the boat.

Brilliant bit of rigging, must have taken ages to rattle down both those masts. Excellent job with the sails too, I like the way you have done all the panels, that took a lot of stitching. Incidentally, is this a sailing model or a static ?

Lovely bit of rigging Hillro, you must have been a Boy Scout in your youth😁. Lots of patience required obviously. Great job on the sails as well. I just tried modifying a jib on my old Graupner Optimist, using an old (70s) but flash Bernina, which belonged to my mother, and has all the bells and whistles, but it looks like I was drunk when doing it (even after referring to the manual 20 times and having about 10 false starts)😂.

Completion of project

Since my last post, I have spent hours and hours working on the rigging with reference to the drawings.
I have great admiration to the ship builders of that time. How these ship rigging is put together must have required a lot of knowledge and design skills. All the different sizes of ropes, blocks and understanding how to control the stresses in the rigging.

This model kit was in a job lot bought on eBay. Lots of bits were missing but there was a good set of plans.
It turns out this is a very rare kit of the 1940s.
I really very please how it has turned out.
I hope you all enjoyed the build.

What a fantastic job you've made of this model, unfortunately your build seemed to drop off my following radar (much to my annoyance).
However I've been back and read it from the beginning, and its very impressive what you've done, I'm sorry I didn't comment or like as it progressed

So you damn well should be Hilly 😀
A superb model, the result of superb craftsmanship, and barrel loads of patience I guess 😉
Your model is as good as or better than many 'Shipyard' and Naval Museum models I have seen during my professional wanderings around the globe.
Excellent mind boggling stuff. Well worthy of a decent glass vitrine to show her off as she deserves 👍
Can't wait to see your next creation.
    All the best, Stay Safe,
    Cheers, Doug 😎
