Completed the main structure and made a few detail bits, the cabin is made from a double skin of 40 thou plasticard with a spacer to allow the clear acetate to slot in after painting. Got to the stage of scraping the last bit of filler from the tube and delving deep into the scrap box for plasticard after this thankfully my local model shop does click and collect and after ordering at 11 am collected at 1 .30 great service and everything is on the website to order.
Going to be making a few more fittings next life rafts hatches etc.

Sometimes things fall just right 😊 and the liferafts were just right to be made from plastic plumbing pipe.
After being cut to size the ends were capped with plasticard shaped with Milliput and marked out for the plasticard strips, which were added with superglue.
After priming with plastic primer they were sprayed white, (this is all starting to sound a bit obvious) but stay with me!😁
The transfers were downloaded from the web and printed on waterslide transfer, varnish applied and varnished again. I find that for everything that is fitted to boats the manufacturer has a great website with sizes and photos as was the case with these.
Well that was time you could have spent doing something useful😁
With thanks for reading.

As I said at the start of the blog I found these two motors in the bits box obviously a pair bought at the same time probably at a show you know how it goes Ive travelled all this way I should buy something.
Well fitted to the boat with loads of work to line them up correctly I now find that they draw a large amount of amps draining batteries after tests in the purpose built test tank in the bathroom and on the bench.
These have now been replaced by a branded name motor namely MFA 4.5 TO 15 volt leaving room to up from 6 volts if needed, which under load only draws around 2 - 3 amps.

Hi Cargoman,
I will only use MFA or Graupner Motors as these give a steady amperage.
Some motors that are for sale come from China and are all over the place!
One last little job before I fasten the cabin down at last the searchlight the wiring is threaded inside the cabin, could not find a commercial unit so hunted for a piece of tube the right size settled on a lip balm tube right size and with a lip inside to seat the glass.

Well the end of the lockdown is in sight and my building time may go with the regulations shopping days out etc so that's why there havnt been any updates until now.
Lots of bits to finish electrical and fittings being the main. First job was to complete the cabin interior along with other bits it all goes towards closing up the roof of same. I did a basic interior just a suggesting that there is an interior as you cant see much through the windows. A 1/24 scale pit crew figure a handmade wheel and some plasticard fitments.
Next is the afore mentioned searchlight built and rebuilt 3 times to get it right finally with the wires through the base and into the cabin.
The mast then pressed to be made constructed from brass and fitted with 3mm LEDs with the live through the center and the brass acting as an earth it now awaits paint and the lamp covers to be fitted. I was blessed to have a load of info sent to me from Brightwork a copy of the plans but the text is a little blurred so lighting is generic taken from other sources.
As with all of the fittings nothing is available off the shelf so another piece is the anchor made from brass awaiting paint and the construction of the anchor winch there I rest for now.

Time to wrap this up apart from a couple of minor details I can now Lumba Lumba to the waters edge, the radar is a problem as its 1960s vintage and the kit details are quite vague so the internet search goes on, all lights are now working but require the internal connections and switches so rather than wait until I get round to the boring bits I thought I would conclude the blog and thank all for their input and help.
The site has been a gift in the lockdown as has the project which began with e bay and a drive to South Shields to collect, a day by the seaside and lunch in the car so a day out.
Thanks to all
Cargoman

Very nice job!! have not been here in a couple weeks. I have a radar on mine...it is old and I will replace it with a servo. Just take the bottom off of the servo and remove the stops so it runs continuously. Put it on a three or 4.5 volt battery as you think fit.
Great vessel I have one that I am about to repaint as it needs some tlc, I have installed a 6volt Duracell which lays flat fitted fwd of the bridge. I do not have any stability problem. Lumba Lumba performs very well at any speed. Battery lasts for many hours powering the two motors.
Finally got to sail the boat and take some photos runs to scale speed but not fast on 6 volts with no stability problems some might want to up the voltage but Im happy with it.
Taken some time to get round to sailing but I made up for it the model ran for 3 hours on the 10 amp gell battery so thanks again to all who sent me the info to complete the model.
