fleet xp/fm 7 channel transmitter

HI Michael
I have fitted similar FrSky units to Futaba sets but am not familiar with The Fleet Transmitter. I am assuming you have the CT8Z advertised on the site.

It is a fairly simple process but you do need some soldering skills and you may need to cut some holes in the Tx case for the binding button and LED.

The three wires on the Corona need to be soldered to the Tx circuit board black -ve connection, red ve connection and another that connects the pulse train from the Tx, this has to be PPM and I have seen details on Fleet Txs saying they used PCM. Hopefully you will have the manual for your set and this will clarify and should help identify where you can connect the wires. The ve and -ve connections can be identified with a multimeter.

Sometimes the transmitter circuit is on a separate board with only the three connections (often with 2 -ve connections making 4) so the wires are easily identified. in this case I usually disconnect the RF stage as it is no longer required and is a drain on the battery.

Your Fleet set must be 30/40 years old and even if working now may need some major restoration of some components especially after you start soldering. if you don't have the skill and knowledge to undertake this work and you are converting for nostalgic reasons you may want to enlist the help of your resident electronics expert as many of the parts required may be difficult to source.

Good luck and please report on progress should you decide to proceed. 😀

fleet xp/fm 7 channel transmitter

I have a fleet 7 channel transmitter which I would like to convert to 2.4ghz using the Crona DIY module from Hobbyking.
Has anybody ever done this conversion or can advise how to fit?
