Update on the river steamer.

According to records just sent to me,

"... Starkey says the river steamboat was 50 feet long nine feet wide in its tiny cabin the engineer and his wife had their quarters..."

Thanks

Calling all 'river steamer' of the 1850's fans... please help.

The build I'm working on, the 1850's 'Clipper' Tayleur was loaded with 'deck cargo' along with 600 odd passengers.

Among the cargo was a a boat listed as a 'river steamer'.

(Also, a large quantity of headstones, 2 railway carriages with a quantity of track, a prefabricated house and surgery).

I grew-up on the Murray River and when I see 'river steamer' I think of Paddle Steamers, but this, surely, is much more punt like I would think.

So, fellow modellers, I ask, what type/size of vessel would most likely be classed, on a freight bill, as a 'river steamer' in 1854?

Or, more imporatantly, does anyone know where I can get a 1/48th scale model of one, any one.

Thanks

Murray.
