Help with flags

Hi
I usually attach my flags to rope thread and provide a fixing at the top of the mast/pole and secure to a cleat near the base of the mast/pole. it will look more realistic and fly correctly in a blow.

Help with flags

Can anyone tell me the best way to secure a fabric flag to a brass pole.
Do I use fabric glue and wrap around pole,or just glue to one side of it.
Or attach some thread to fabric and glue that to pole.
