esc amp

hi, the answer to your question is related to the size and profile of the propeller. A small 2 blade prop will have a much lower amp draw that a large "x" type racing prop. The motor you mention, I think I have the same motor, its not a big performer speed wise, until recently I had this in a slow scale boat, on 12v, with a 15amp electronise esc, and 50mm 2 blade prop, the motor did get a little hot.

Depending on the performance you want. I would go with the 40 amp esc, it will then give you the option of testing various size props for optimum performance, if you want to fit an inline fuse, go a little under the esc rating to protect it, say 35amp, and use sufficient wire that will carry the current. Start with a small prop, quick test, see if the motor and esc are getting warm, if not then go a bit bigger on the prop, they are relatively inexpensive, or borrow from a friend like I did (oops! just remembered I have not given them back yet!) 😀

esc amp

I now have a 46" Aerokits Fireboat to go with my 36". The 46" has a large Johnson motor similar to an MFA 850,(already In when I bought It), I Intend to run It with a 12v 10ah gel battery, or a 9.6 nimh stick, the query Is what amp esc should I use, I have an Mtronicks 25 as well as a 40, but which one to use?, and what amp fuse should I fit for safety? Any help would be most welcome.
