Fireboat colours

Yeh, I think the difference makes the boat look great. Have a look at my boats in the gallery to see the colours.

Fireboat colours

Thanks for your reply.I did'nt realise the superstructure and deck differed in colour. Is there a vast difference in the shading between the primer grey and RAF blue 96.I like the idea of using Burgundy as I was a little concerned the reds I had seen in various pictures appeared a bit garish to say the least.Iusually use Halfords cans so generally have plenty of Appliance white in stock!

Thanks for your reply. Andy (BALDERS)

Fireboat colours

Hi, I have 4 Fire Boats all painted the same. For below the waterline I use Ford Burgundy car paint spray from Halfords. Although most boats were painted in a red coloured antI corrosion/ barnacle resistant paint which when new was almost the same colour as red primer, sea water actually turned this paint to a wine colour. Many members at my club have agreed the Burgundy is a good shade. I also use Halfords black spray paint for upper hull. For the super structure I use Halfords grey primer and the roofs are white -- appliance white from Halfords is very good. For the decks I use hum roll RAF blue no. 96. I then spray with a light coat of clear coat(Halfords again) to give a satin finish. Hope this helps.

Fireboat colours

A mate picked up a vac formed fireboat hull and deck moulding at Ellesmere show bring and buy.I am building It for him and It Is progressing very nicely.I have no knowledge of fireboats and have found out most of what I need from t'internet as the mouldings only came with two colour pictures and a few bits of Info. gleaned from other sources.

Can someone please tell me the correct colour scheme please.e roof sections are

Below the waterline Is a shade of red.Is there a paricular shade? then black above the waterline divided by a white line. The roof sections I can see are white.

What I really need to know Is the correct shade of grey, which appears a blue grey and It seems to me the correct shade will make or break the model.

I will try and upload pics of what I have with dimensions over the weekend as I will need lots of advice re.fittings etc.

thanks for looking,
Andy (Balders)
