9.6v is as high as you should go with that motor, I would also put a fuse in line to protect your ESC, if the motor pulls more than the 15a you will get the magic smoke

Hi
I have just completed making the 34 Inch Sea Commander boat and want to setup up electrics.
I have bvought a 15 amp plug and play viper ESC and a Caldercraft CEM750S motor plus servo and Planet 5 T TX
but I do not know what type and size battery I need. Can anyone help please
