Modified Heng Long smoker unit
This is a first try at a simpler quieter smoke unit. I used the smoker box/element off the Heng Long tank/car smoker unit with a 40x40 5v fan (the fan being voltage controlled by a 5v UBEC and the lot being run by a 2s Lipo (with a y splitter for the fan UBEC and the element using JST leads. Doesn't smoke that well as I had broken then repaired the element previously, but the other one I have smokes a lot better, and has a better type of element (possibly a newer version) Some photos etc on the smoker discussion. Unit is almost silent (the noise you hear is the camera and outside noise, as the window was open)

Fast Patrol Boat
Just renovated this one not been used of several years, I need to get back into sailing, was running on a 400 size motor now on a outrunner Mystery D2632-100 and it seems to go very well, will post it on the water later.

    Hi BOATSHED,
The wooden block is screwed and araldited ti the keel and supports an Aluminium bracket designed for holding a Brushless motor in an Aeroplane, use what’s available I always say.
The coupling is Silicon tube fitted to brass universal coupling fittings and because the way brushless run is very quiet compared to a normal Unversal Joint assembly.
    Will post it running shortly.
    Thanks for you interest. Graham

One of friends owns this amazing 1/25 model of the Manu Wai PT20 before her exterior refit and a different friend of mine owns the real hydrofoil.

Great model ! I actually exchanged a number of emails with Gary Fry, who is/was the owner of Manu Wai and ran her for a while in Sydney Harbour till engine problems stopped him . Not sure if she is still afloat or if he still owns her, but she was in a pretty bad way a while ago. I think Gary was trying to get a club or museum to take over the maintenance as she needs a lot doing (new motor etc.) Used to see her often on the Waitemata Harbour here in Auckland, and have a photo of her not long before she went to Australia. Was the last working PT20 in the world. As a kid I saw her first public arrival at the down town terminal when she was new. First time I'd ever heard air horns, hundreds of people jumped when the skipper let them rip. Typical Italian stuff !! a space ship in those days, nothing else like her ! Shame to see her decay, hope she is rescued. I will put a pic up when I can. There are a number of vids on You Tube, in both Auckland and Sydney. Just type Manu-Wai in search and you will find them.

Electric Barbarella
Ahoy Maties! it's been a long time since my last posting. Happy 2019! I just completed my new scratch-built boat "Electric Barbarella". I tried to recreate (with some liberties) one of my favorite boats of all time, the 30-footer Chris Craft Sportsman built during the 1970s. it measures 24 X 8.5 inches. it is powered with a 9.6 NiMH 4200 mAh battery "nunchuck" pack (like the one used for paintball guns), brushless motor attached to a 30A Mtroniks Hydra controller and a 30mm M4 3-bladed brass propeller. The hull (my own on-the-go design) was made out of Balsa wood which later I fiberglassed. For the superstructure I utilized 2mm ABS plastic sheet material. To my surprise the boat turned to be a very stable and forgiving platform. I really feel a very close connection to this vessel as it is my first own hull design.😁

She's a beauty!!! (And I am not talking about only the lady in the cockpit!)

I grew up a block away from the river, and there were a lot of pleasure craft in the area. Most of them were pre-70's as I left before then.

There is a lubricator full of steam oil, follow the inlet pipe back from the two side valve covers and there it is on a tee junction.
