Lifeboat crewe had been on a night out so not quite vertical. Aplogies for the shaky video, it's difficult to sail and video at the same time.

- Dave MVice AdmiralHi and welcome to the site.Hi and welcome to the site. If you are considering using an IC in the model I suggest you find a local club or water where you can sail. Many local authority waters prohibit IC engines. I see you recently asked for details of a club in Torquay and note that we do have a club registered (Model Boat Clubs) as Torbay and District MBC. You could try sending a pm to one of the members registered as sailing there and ask for details. Good looking crew! Dave

- lesliebreameChief Petty Officer 1st ClassThe tablets are the same ones used in all MAMOD toys after they stopped using meths.Get them from DREAM STEAM under name MSS Mamod Solid Fuel Tablets. They are not liked by many as they are quite toxic in confined spaces so dont use them indoors!!! For small boats they are great as they weigh nothing and give good heat. - lesliebreameChief Petty Officer 1st ClassHull is about 36" long and from ORION Mouldings[i think !!] its quite nice and shows all the rivets in good detail. We are at present making a Puffer 54" long and i am going to make the hull from soldered tinplate[ i hope !!! ] Les BreameHull is about 36" long and from ORION Mouldings[i think !!] its quite nice and shows all the rivets in good detail. A good evening's sailing. Boats looked better the darker it got.
I have not put too much scale in detail but I am quite pleased with the overall finish. it is powered by two brushless 1250KV out runners and in the first sea trials I used 12v lead acid batteries. (That video was posted a few weeks ago - mdlbt.com/26793).
This video shows its second sea trial after I was persuaded to use lipos. The difference in performance is very pleasing.
Thank you Dave M for your help and advice during the build.
- cormorantLieutenant CommanderThank you for your compliments.Thank you for your compliments. This is in fact my second Perkasa. I built the first one about 40 years ago (see photo), before the introduction of the GRP hull. Losing interest in the hobby some years later, I sold the boat and have lived to regret it. (I was also the proud owner of a 37" Aerokits Crash Tender powered by a Frog 2.49cc diesel. That went the same way!) The first boat was quite lively powered by a Merco 61 i/c engine. No pictures of either I'm afraid. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. - mactinChief Petty Officer 2nd ClassHi Edward, its a fine balancing act of electrolysis to hydroide gas, compression then ignition but utillising vacuum formation as an assisting force to the power stroke so effectively making it a one stroke which sounds odd.still in development ive tried turbine, oscillator pistons and hydraulic recoil as end movers but the best seems to be the straight reciprocator. its scary, how the hell can they tax water??? cheers Neil.Hi Edward, its a fine balancing act of electrolysis to hydroide gas, compression then ignition but utillising vacuum formation as an assisting force to the power stroke so effectively making it a one stroke which sounds odd.still in development ive tried turbine, oscillator pistons and hydraulic recoil as end movers but the best seems to be the straight reciprocator. its scary, how the hell can they tax water??? cheers Neil.

Sailed well but now ready for refit with new engines and more modern RC fittings
Will complete a Build Blog when I commence the refit
I was using a monopod so I could pan and follow the model. I agree the tripod works much better. All my fellow sailors were otherwise engaged unfortunately.
