Remindes me of berthing alongside just down from the Crescent city connection bridge, near Canal Street - I`m sure the "Precedent" steamer used to be there 45 years ago ?.

I like your paddlewheel “Mark Twain”!
The boats namesake is quite a prolific writer, and in his book “A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court” he talks about his time in England. I don’t know if you smoke cigars, but an interesting paper he wrote is more about the nature of people, “Concerning Tobacco”....this is a short paper. Funny, but oh so true!

Purchased original Rojair Mickey Finn from Ashton Models 35 years ago - hull suffered damaged so made a F/G mould before repairing and sailing. Made spare hull from mould and there she sat for 35-40 years. Original Mickey was sold many years ago but as retirement approached the burning desire to fulfill old challenges re-emerged.
So , after putting out calls for help, diagrams, photos or information on the model boat forums, thanks to "John Dowd" and a couple of other guys, I finally got round to resurrecting this fantastic little yacht.

Love to see one built and working. Design very similar to an ice yacht which I imagine would be incredibly fast on a good flat piece of ice. First time I saw an ice yacht was on a frozen lake near Les Rousses in the French Jura. Pull the sheet in and they'd be down the other end of the lake is seconds. Always fancied trying a real one, land or ice or both. Think it would be a great experience.
We watched the ice yachts for a while, then drove on down, about an hour, to Geneva, beautiful warm sunny day with real yachts sailing on the lake.

I spent some time in the Middle East on H.M.S. Nubian ( Tribal class frigate)
H.M.S. Relentless ( Daring class) followed us back to UK. I remember days and days of watching her just behind us in the Bay of Biscay, which lived up to it's reputation. I always thought the Daring class was the last warship that really looked like a warship with her twin forward gun turrets.
Mind you I think you would have wet feet 24X7 on her waist decks.

Was given this as a hull which had been started 25 yrs ago, along with some superstructure parts. Without other materials to finish it off, I gave it what I could find and here is where it is today.
Motor is 340 Graupner geared 3:1 & 7.2v 2400 NiMH
Can not provide any specific sailing details until it has been in the pond which could be awhile...se my front and back yard!

I hadn't built a model of any sort since I was 15 years old and that was a control line aeroplane with a glow worm engine. 45 years later and regressing nicely back to my teenage years, my wife bought me (reluctantly!) a RC Boat Kit - Mowe 2. I had been wanting to build again for many years, but children and family and home situation did not allow.
So, over the cold Autumn and Winter Months I carefully put my spare nights to good use, rather than watching night after night TV box sets and re-watching the entire James Bond movies, not once but 2 or 3 times....
Anyhow after 3 months...the finished product. I should have started a blog but didn't know of this site until a few weeks ago.
Not a brilliant finished job, but a satisfying one, and it sails nicely on Bushy Park boating lake in Kingston-upon-Thames.
Now o nto bigger and more complicated things...a Fairey Huntsman 31.
This time I'll do a blog....👍

Hi David, just came across your model of the Waverley & I just wanted to congratulate you on a first class model boat! The detail is fantastic, its a truly wonderful model. It reminds me of a trip we did a couple of years ago on the Waverley from Tower Bridge - Southend Pier - Whitstable Harbour and back, spent a lot of time down in the Engine room, it brought back many memories when I was about 6 years old when my Grandad took me on a day trip on the Waverley.....
All the best

Hi just to remind us of summer days during the cold spell we have. Sorry about the audio but this is the fishing trawler I built a while ago - having a sail around the lake in South Shields. We didn't catch many fish that day :-)
