Nice photos Leonard. As Jarvo said, it's nice to see youngsters and families in the pics as well as the normal "older guys". Keep up the good work. Best wishes, Dave W 😊

Looks like great fun. Nice cheap build boats, all to s single plan. I might suggest it to our club, if I ever get back up there 😊

Largs Boat Club
Pity such a beautiful West Coast location should have a popular boat club pond in disrepair. Sign of the time perhaps with many councils having reduced expenditure. But a disappointment travelling with my small grandson to sail his little Proboat Westward 18 for the first time. it's the first thing he noticed, no water.

Staff in the RNLI shop along the promenade said the pond had not been in use since last year. Here's hoping the council can organise repairs before next year's season. I couldn't resist buying a little model fishing boat from them the RNLI shop which now has pride of place in our kitchen shelf.

What a shame. it looks such a lovely location for a model boat club. There must be some cash somewhere in the system which could just repair the pond and waterproof it. if there is a "current" club, maybe they could approach a local business to help with finances as a sponsorship. Heres hoping for a positive future. Best wishes, Dave W 😊

I love visiting Scotland and Largs is on my list. Hopefully they might have a functioning pond when I get to visit. My next visit is planned for Newton Park near Ayr next Easter time.

GALA DAY VARIOUS
Knightswood Boating Club Glasgow. Part 2. Again, great day with smashing stalls and a childrens play centre, with Knightswood Club providing a variety of small power boats for the children to get "Hands On' experience. it was a joy watching their faces when they realised it was THEM that was actually sailing the boat's. My only regret I didn't have my small grandson with me.

Throstle
Throstle is a Draginforce65 yacht I am loving getting used to sailing her...discovering how she handles and improving my skills. Everyone I meet is so friendly too at the Norwich Boat club. Eating Park boating lake is a fabulous place... you must try it. I promise you will not be disappointed. Great relaxing cafe in the park too! Boing boing Baggies! 👍

    Cheers Doug 😎

Of course he won Douglas. He's miles in front. Ya can't see the others, as they're so far behind.
Nice photo Baggie. Eating park looks great. Another reason for visiting friends in Naaaarich 😀

Mini-12
Sailing on the pond at the former Canterbury Golf Club, Port Perry, Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦

This is a Mini-12 Sailboat designed for sailing in weedy ponds. The rudder is attached to its shorter keel and weighs 12lbs+, and 42" length. it uses the Soling mast and sail area.

I am still learning how to handle this boat but it is sure fun!

Nice setting. I see you use pond yacht type hulls. We have to in the summer due to floating weed in our lake.
Is this a kit or scratch built?
Certainly looks fun and I see you are training the mate for his masters ticket!

JOLIE BRISE gaff-rigged cutter
This fantastic model was scratch built by John of the Solent Radio Controlled Model Boat Club. Here it is seen sailing in light winds on Setley Pond in the New Forest, UK.

She took about a year to construct and is now into the third year of sailing. The boat is based on the period 1929/34 when "Bobby" Somerset owned her, he won the Fastnet race twice and finished second once, infact she is the only boat to win the Fastnet three times. She is based on the river Hamble and is owned by Dauntseys school in Wiltshire and is regularly raced by the pupils there. The model is approximately 1:15 scale.

In 2013 the full size Jolie Brise celebrated the centenary anniversary of her construction by the Paumelle yard in Le Havre in 1913. The world famous, gaff-rigged pilot cutter was the last boat to carry the royal mail under sail and has won the Fastnet Race three times, including the inaugural race in 1925. in 2015 and 2016 she was the overall winner of the Tall Ships Races.

Jolie Brise is owned, maintained and sailed by the pupils of Dauntsey's School. For more information about Jolie Brise go to,

Nicely trimmed gaff-rigged cutter showing her paces. Good to see a helmsman in attendance adding to the realism
