Having another play at the creek. Condition of the areas' surface is dependent on weather. One day it can be really smooth, next big sand corrugations and creek edges due to wave action. Hard to get the perfect day. As can be seen, the creek is a bit rocky as well. Fun all the same.

Orca’s eh? They are in the waters off B.C. but not the waters of Ontario as we are freshwater. A quick search of Nobbly are these a type of shark?
Those are scary videos of the Orca pods swarming those vessels and the wakeboard we. Especially when you know these things eat seals and attack infant blue whales.

Nobby Clarks, Noah's Arks, -rhyming slang for sharks down here Ron. We have a population of around 250 Orca in NZ waters, but they apparently have different habits to Orca elsewhere. eg,- the don't seem to be interested in seals or sea lions, mainly stingrays, skates etc. The pics in the last post were of part of a pod of orca, just off a beach north of Auckland near where I live, the mother was teaching the calf to catch stingrays right in almost to the small beach there.
No-one's ever been attacked by them here, and they seem more curious than dangerous, and often come up to surfers, kayakers and boats for a look. They quite often come up the harbour in Auckland as well. There will be no sharks to worry about with them in the area, - probably safer swimming with them around.

Fitted the new 550 45T brushed motor as a replacement for the ancient and slow 70s Graupner monoperm. Goes a lot better now and has a decent speed range. Handles and rides quite well for a skinny boat. Prop is a Graupner 40mm 2 blade (don't know the pitch, -fairly fine) Using a 2200mAh 2S LiPo battery which probably gives around an hours running slowly, or 30 mins of hooning around.
Battery was only charged to 8.25v and ended up at 7.7v. (45%) after about 3/4 hr. I'll probably fit a Hobbywing ESC as well, for a bit better reverse action, as the El cheapo car one is a bit slow finding reverse at times.

Set the new Surpass 3000KV 36 diam finned in-runner up in the boat, and did a tank test. Lots more power than the HV brushed 1200kv 550, but with higher idle. Re-did the reinforced silicone coupling and fitted a small collar to the inner end of the motor shaft to hold the tube from moving forward against the motor, as with the extra torque of the in-runner, it was trying to twist the tube off the shafts. Seems to be hanging in there static which is a promising sign. Once running, the load will come off which should help.
Runs full at around 4A and the battery holds at around 3.8v/ cell )alarm is set at 3.6 for safety, (as a sort of rev limiter) performance should improve a bit now. Have to wait till tomorrow as the restrictions end at 6am Sunday, (then have to hope for good weather for the test) The prop in the jet is a 28mm 3 blade racing prop which I modified to fit. Don't think I'm going to get much more out of the jet unit without it exploding😁, (it's only plastic I think, not GRP), - might have to buy a back-up and fit it with better quality bearings etc. If the jet was in the usual 'plastic' 24" toys it would be a rocket, but it's pushing 6lbs which is a challenge😀
Note the police chase outside in the background😁- always action around here, lots of hoons in cars😁

A test post on behalf of redpmg.
The engines are built by a mate of his.
"The boats are built by a 90+ year old gent by the name of Alan Raubenheimer, who used to make Rose Pop Pop Boats - used to advertise in MB etc.
Now into his 90s he has finally given up production."
Here goes🤞
Doug
It woiks 😊; just ignore the 'Invalid file' notice and click the blue magnifying glass and then the download button.
Run with Windows Media Player.
When it opens Press F11 for full screen or drag a corner with the cursor to enlarge.
Resolution is not too good I'm afraid🤔
Despite the music the action takes place in SA not Hawaii!😉
PS 8.5.20. Video fixed and enhanced a little 😀😎

Hi Doug, I finally figured out how to open this - it was well worth persevering with, this has a real feel good factor especially with the music and I like his R/C, and a steam outboard engine - brilliant.

Finally, had a decent day (if you can call calm but fully overcast decent) and managed a try-out of the ST. Unfortunately had the pleasure of some yappy kid asking a thousand stupid questions, then his grandfather started, while I was trying to set it up. Got so distracted I ended up breaking the mast while trying to grab the boat and answer rapid fire questions. Trying to do a video and the kid's yelling behind me, and the grandfather just let him carry on.??😠 Don't mind kids being interested at all, but some are just a pain in the 'transom'
Anyhow, enough grumpy old man stuff, -boat went pretty much perfectly and is plenty fast enough, and also very economical on the batteries, (Vid was twice as long before editing) and when I stopped they were still at 3.9v/ cell (they are only 2200MAh 2s ) and were only 4.1 at the start. All in all, distractions and a bit of mast damage aside, I'm quite happy with it, (did hit the jetty at a 20deg angle at 2/3 throttle while taking photos, - going for that last shot -😀 bounced off without a mark, - lucky the jetty piles are slimy and I build tanks !)

I get easily confused in my old age Doug😐 I've got 2 cars, an auto and a manual, - I've noticed lately, when I shift to P for pass there are funny noises, (noticed the same when shifting to R for race) and in the manual, why does it make funny noises when I pull the stick back to drive off?😮
Confused😐

Proboat Aplha - ready to run.......model of Patrol Boat Riverine used by US Navy, Vietnam between 1967-72. Basic 1/18 scale able to attach small action figures for added dimension, model always look better with crew.
Great starter....already looking at larger scale military kits and really impressed with Deans Marine product range, unfortunatly little options to explore in Australia....so have to order most stuff in....vids will get better with experience...stay tuned.😉

Somebody was either disillusioned with model boats or impecunious to the Nth degree because he let me have this BRAND NEW Ripmax Tomkat complete with Motor, ESC, brand new steering servo, action man driver, decals and instructions for a brownie with a bluey postage.
Not my usual type of model but will make a fun change down at our 'postage stamp' lake (?)
