That's really encouraging to know that youngsters are enjoying the hobby. Hopefully teaching them water safety as well. I'm for ever falling in when retrieving my models. Family think it's hilarious but it can be dangerous, so I try to stay dry nowadays.
    Cheers Colin.

Yes Colin I do try and teach them to behave accordingly around water, even more so because I can’t swim. That wouldn’t deter me from jumping in after them tho haha. Yes they are pretty good I just say. I’ve fallen in a couple of times, just as well it’s shallow ish around one edge.
    Cheers Jordan.

"Camera Nip"
Just for fun thought I would revisit a " fan assisted " Wee Nip . Looking again at issues such as noise, focus, changes in light and the suitability for various camera platforms for close encounters!.
Tested here at our local lake with the Buxton Model Boat Club.

CreweMBC live Steam TID Tug by Brian Clewes sailing at Boundary Park
Managed to capture some video of Brian Clewes' live steam TID tug on the lake this Wednesday 19 October. First chance for a proper sail and a bit more ballast needed.

Using the camera boats
Using the camera boats, we have a montage of clips here which help to appreciate the many variables between cameras and conditions around the lake at different times of the year.

Camera Boat trials with Bill & Ben.
Getting more experience with new camera boat seeing how the gopro handles the varying light changes. Filming at different locations, while circumnavigating the lake.
Live streaming via the phone, changes to exposure etc. were applied in the final edit.
Again , thanks to Bill & Ben - and of course Graham !.

Details on the Judy B
Hello everyone, I hope things are absolutely great in your neck of the woods...A great tug like this one being constructed in the local Toluca Lake shipyards, needs a good radar. I have gone with the @indows 95 look. I am also fully committed to adding some wooden IKEA sliding doors, they will be well-balanced, with a "fingertip touch" when I am through. I am following through with similar swung doors on the captain's cabin.

Status of converted tug Judy B 🚤😊🤞
She is out of Toluca Lake, close to the Pacific Ocean in Southern California. Some of the very best ships came from those yards in Toluca Lake.
My dad made my Mom a great tugboat with this name back in the 1960's. We always had real boats, and the handmade and very detailed model would get pulled out of the dock box to get towed about while the barbeque was burning down. It got lost over the years and I have christened this beautiful ship in tribute to her. The curves on this tugboat are quite handsome and eye-catching from my rather jaundiced point of view. I can't wait to swing the compass, and run the measured mile with her. Peace to all my model boat enthusiast pals!

There's a really great shop in Glendale, I think, called Harbor Models...they have a great website and they are the kind of shop I want to back up a semi tractor trailer up to and buy everything!

First sail of the year!
Back in May I was able to get my boats out on a the local boating lake, it went ok and it was magical to have them on the water again, although I did have battery issues, and my small type 24 frigate had a leak, well I live and learn, back to shed to discharge and recharge my NMHI batteries, and address the leak! More to follow soon!

My Two boat task force
Here is pitcure of both my boats sailing on a boating lake not far from my home, the larger of the two was commandeered by my 8 year old son for a trainning mission he had in mind, which gave me an excuse to build another one, which is the smaller boat the picture, as the young captain needed escorting while getting use to his new command!
They are both made from balsa wood, which the material for the hull, it is sealed with a acrylic varnish, painted over the top with enammel paint with clear varnish on top of the paint! The superstructure on the larger destoyer is made from thin plywood, and on the smaller frigate its made of plasticard!
I got the lynx helicoptors on Ebay from "The Dorest Print Man" I think it was, which are 3D printed by him!
