The emerging creation ( all be it rough and ready !) will incorporate rotating fan motor and 360 degree rotating camera with live feed FPV camera.
My enjoyment is to capture the the skill, time and effort that fellow modelers put into their creations - whether they be they scratch built, own designs, kit sets or off the shelf.

Mike / Michel-Cl. - david41Master SeamanHi Mike.
glad that i could help i took the entire cabin off this evening as i had to fit a new sail servo and on turning the cabin section upside down spotted very small numbers on sections of the wood i then remembered all the years ago that the deck and cabin etc came all marked out so you just had to cut them out very easy the hull was very thin plastic type and was prone to cracking a few years ago i striped the lot down and pumped builders foam inside the hull manage to marsked of the servo and rudder section and it made the hull a lot firmer and was still light i plus i know that it won't sink
Best Regards
David

- MadwelshmanLieutenant CommanderThe boat looks great, really nice.
I bet Grandad doesnt even get a look in now though 😂
Some great driving by Finley, smooth turns and not just flat out everywhere.
Very nice.
Will - Graham93Vice AdmiralThanks Will,
Re the turns. The launch has a custom mixer built in to reduce the throttle on turns. The sharper the turn, the more the reduction. I didn’t want it rolling over attempting to turn flat out.😉

- DWBrinkmanRear AdmiralRislinger,
As I am working on the boat, I have discovered that it is indeed a wood hulled boat. Making it what I believe to be a Midwest 986 kit built boat.
When it was given to me, I was told "the hull leaks". Over the years, somebody had filled it with that spray foam insulation stuff. So the first thing I had to do was remove all that icky stuff so I could see the inside of the hull. At that point, I discovered that there have been numerous attempts at sealing the "leak". There are layers of a rubbery sealant of some type, multiple different hard setting epoxies or something. I am now down to wood in all the place where I suspect the leaks are. I' will keep posting as I go forward.
Bob purchased the kit from Deans Marine as (HMS ZULU) , but built her to represent HMS GURKHA , one of his RN deployments around 1972.

- Tug HerculesAble SeamanA question on Horsepower; (as I have similar rating on my old Tug);
re; "The original tug was built in 1956 engine was 56 nominal horse power ( 1000 indicated horse power )"
What is the correlation between Nominal Horsepower and Indicated Horsepower?
Thank You.

Had a chat with a long time expat UKer (ex British army) at the pond today, and he mentioned that he has an Aerokits fireboat 'kit' still in the box he hasn't started, (you might be able to hear the conversation) and that he was modelling in the 60s in the UK, running diesels in his boats. He was sailing a Kyosho Seawind today (as was the other guy),- and they look like a nice little yacht, and sail well.
The Sealegs is an NZ designed and built (built in Albany- Auckland) boat sold (and copied) all round the world. Really amazing piece of kit. Drive is hydraulic, and driven by a small self start diesel motor in its' own compartment. If I ever won Lotto I'd certainly be looking at one😁 They have a special drive on trailer as well.
Not my lake in the thumbnail, don't know where that came from😐
- jbkiwiFleet AdmiralHi Doug, see comments on the other vid😁. Most of the people who own these live on beaches with riparian access, so they can drive straight to the water from their front yards. Someone had parked one on a sand bank on the shore of the estuary a few weeks back and gone somewhere (visiting perhaps) and it looked hard case sitting there on its' wheels in the mangroves. They can also squat, and sit on the hull while on land with the wheels down slightly to level them. Pretty clever machine but rather expensive.!
JBLiked by Martin555 - peterdSub-LieutenantI spent a day in one several years ago photographing an Etchells yacht race series in Australia. The versatility was brilliant, especially being able to pull up in the river at the end of the day and get photos that otherwise would have been lost.
Loved it but a tad out of my price range.
