Straight running at Mayhem 2022
Who would have thought running a boat with no RC would be so much fun? Some 'straight runners' at Mayhem 2022

Thanks for the video. A some fine collection of boats on the water. The rowboats have to be an extremely difficult build.

There is a full blog for one of the rowboats shown in the video here:

Some photos of how I have laid out the various components in the compartments. I have my Lipo battery mounted laterally against the bulkhead in the cabin at the rear of wheelhouse (battery not shown). The battery is placed between the water-cooled ESC and the bulkhead. They are held in place with velcro as well as the extra battery box and RX box. I'm using a 3 bladed prop with a pro drive 35-42 brushless motor with a Viper 50amp water cooled ESC. The battery is a 3 cell 2200mah 11.1v Overlander battery. The RX is held in foam in an old business card plastic case along with a electronic switch to switch on the spotlight. In the aft compartment with the rudder is a 6v AAA battery box for the searchlight. When not in use, I keep the lipo battery in a fire proof bag inside a metal petty cash box for safety!😊

My new (to me) Shelley Foss came today!
Yes, I realize it needs some TLC. But then, all the boats in my "Harbor of Misfit Toys" came to me that way. I think it has potential :-) 🙄

The 1:1 fantail launch that inspired TICKER. TICKER is a one lunger diesel launch ( tick, tick) restored by & owned by Quissett Boatyard; an historic & iconic old-time boatyard around the “corner” from Woods Hole.

RC Maiami, a bit of fun on the estuary
Just a simple model I built for my son about 14yrs ago. He wasn't interested (more into computers) so I use it for the salt water. Just a brass shaft and 12v high speed 380 motor, runs quite well. Ran it to try out the new 4K camera, (set on 1920x1080) but had to convert the vid from MOV to MP4 to edit it, so it reduced the clarity a bit. At least it doesn't have a blurry bit in the middle of the lens like my 10yr old one. have to figure out a better way, (or get a better editor)

This might be clearer

    Hi wunwinlo
This was built by another club member and sold on when he finished sailing models so we do not have the plan. It is a model of a Sea Plane tender and was probably built in the 1960's. It could have been a kit from the Maycraft stable or even Veron but also possibly built from a plan in Model Boats or its predecessors. Doug replaced the brushed 550 motors with two 2028 brushless arounf 1000Kv with scale 3 blade brass props and 11.1v LiPo 2200Ma. Models from this period are very nostalgic and I look forward to seeing your model some time in the future,
    Cheers

Thanks for the info on your model, Dave. I thoroughly agree that the 50/60's models of the 'RAF Navy' vessels have a lot going for them. There's nothing nicer than a planing hull and two hot brushless!
