Was it in distress?
Cheers, Doug😎

Doug, i remember my old Felix, or it might have been the Neptun, that I had mounted my flag the exact same way...but I didn't have an excuse as I spent almost 5 years at Ramstein🤣
Must be something in the water here, Donald doesn't come out much but next time I talk to him I'll tell him.

Was invited to take my restored 1970s 12ft racing yacht (red and white one-93 at 1:3) down to put in the display this afternoon, at the Viaduct Event Center In Auckland, and decided to get some pics of the boats on and off water before the crowds come over the next 3 days. Lots of beautiful restored yachts and launches, as well as smaller racing and sailing dinghies. A couple of NZ designed and built Chris Craft copies inside as well. Also steam launches and a few models.
The boat at 1:54 and 3:12 does not have the usual V8 as you would expect, but has a 4 cyl Mercruiser motor, not as the drive motor, but as a generator running 3 high output alternators powering an electrical system for twin electric motors, (round black objects seen in pic, in front of petrol motor). Shafts run each side of petrol motor, Has large control boards on each side for each motor. Boat and laminated wooden trailer designed and built by the owner, Took 2000hrs to build,- absolutely immaculate workmanship.
Also a short vid on an Auckland ferry trip I took while waiting for the liner Queen Victoria to
depart

As far as I know, there is not a model boat club at Madrid. However, modellers gather Sundays at 10:30 to sail at a pond -actually a set of four connected ponds-, located in a municipal park, in the south of the city. Access is free.
The boat in the video is a sidewheeler, scratch built by my good friend Eduardo Yraola, who is a far more accomplished modeller than I am. She has steam propulsion, and sails at a majestuous pace.

The "Spooky" Halloween night sail took place on Sunday 29th October 2023.
Sorry for the poor video quality. Conditions were difficult in the "pitch dark " however, just for fun - it`s nice to have a record of the event than non at all. Commodore Barry says thanks to all who took part !.

Ian Potts built his model from the David Metcalf kit and sailed the model at Boundary Park on our Wednesday 30th August meeting. Unfortunately there was a problem with one of the props and rudder (all now fixed) so the sail was short. Sails realistically and is really well built and detailed.

A couple of members went for a morning sail I had may North Rock tug & a fellow member was checking out his latest R/C model that I really like the looks of her I forgot the ships name but the fellow running her said it was a Steam research vessel. I had upgraded North Rock to a Fly Sky transmitter & sure enough had to reprogram rudder & forward - reverse functions .

Here's my scratch built model of a Gundalow. in their final iteration they were lateen rigged cargo hauling workhorses of the New Hampshire and Maine estuaries from the mid 1600's thru very early 1900. Flat bottomed with a very shallow draft that allowed sailing (or following the tides/currents) to ports upriver with needed supplies and returning with cargo of all types. My model is 50" in length. It is used as a display model for The Gundalow Company in Portsmouth, NH. I also use it with historical presentations I give to schools, historical societies and libraries. The model is fully functional. While not radio controlled it has the ability to float.

Hi Rod. You are correct. Because of the size and location of the rudder it needs to be protected from stressing beyond it limit. That’s a great question. In all my presentations no one else has ever asked. Good eye!

Believed to be from Revell Models , " INGA IV " is a model Ketch , owned and sailed here by Martin Ward of the Hayling Island Model Boat Club.
RCSailing is just for fun, no gain. Other than sharing photos and videos relating to Buxton Model Boat Club activities, from time to time its nice to "showcase" models from other clubs and members as seen here with the link between BMBC & HIMBC - all sharing the common interest in model boats and the "Model Boat Website".

Other than sharing photos and videos relating to Buxton Model Boat Club activities, from time to time its nice to "showcase" models from other clubs and members as seen here with the link between BMBC & HIMBC - all sharing the common interest in model boats and the "Model Boat Website".
Perhaps not a true description with both boats being battery powered ! however - just for fun I thought it would be nice to showcase together, similar boats sailed at my own local model boat club and some of those sailed at the Hayling club - a sort of "Model Club Twinning".

May this year provided me the opportunity for a return visit.
Many thanks again to all members for the hospitality shown.
Special thanks to Greg, Rob and Mike (the Swan Whisperer) !.

Great selection of boats.
Just one reservation!
The German tugboat is flying it's national flag UPSIDE DOWN!🤔
Was it in distress?
Cheers, Doug😎
Must be something in the water here, Donald doesn't come out much but next time I talk to him I'll tell him.
