M class destroyer
Hello again, here’s a picture of an M class destroyer which I built some years ago, she is of again balsa construction from Model Boat Magazine plans, I built over one winter about 9 years ago, she is sealed with dope and tissue which gives a smooth finish, the guns were constructed from plastic card, with brass rods for the barrels!
She was retired a couple of years ago, but recently she was brought out retirement and gifted to family friend was showing an interest in battle ships!

Hi Trev, if your talking about the little gray sub it’s scratch built. If you want to know about the larger sub later in the vid I’ll have to ask Ed where he got the hull.

Back at Towne Lake for more fun and friendship. Had a good time, we saw 2 subs in the water, a few tugs, launches, working boats and an old MRP deep vee and a Micro Magic. I had a great time as I finally got my Italeri Vosper handling decently even in the windy conditions we had. A little more tweaking and she’ll be spot on, but I’m pleased with her for now.

bought as a project a long time ago
I bought this yacht as a kit in Auckland New Zealand 1973 as a project i was in the merchant navy working for the New Zealand Shipping co. on the M.V. Ruahine after we had dropped our passengers in wellington we would move around the coast picking up cargo it has taken me a long time to get the yacht like this a lot of alterations including the R/C

    Hi Mike.
glad that i could help i took the entire cabin off this evening as i had to fit a new sail servo and on turning the cabin section upside down spotted very small numbers on sections of the wood i then remembered all the years ago that the deck and cabin etc came all marked out so you just had to cut them out very easy the hull was very thin plastic type and was prone to cracking a few years ago i striped the lot down and pumped builders foam inside the hull manage to marsked of the servo and rudder section and it made the hull a lot firmer and was still light i plus i know that it won't sink

    Best Regards
    David

Master Hand seen at CreweMBC sail Monday 8th Nov 2021
Brian Clewes brought along a nice example of his scratch built Master Hand retired fishing boat, for a sail. When larger more powerful mechanised boats were introduced this type was abandoned. Many were rescued and turned into pleasure / racing type craft and that is what this model depicts. Not seen for some years but is ageing well. The static pics will be of interest to any modeller considering making a scale sailing ship of this type. I did film some video and will share this later when edited.
enjoy

Beautiful boat, I love these fishing boats, what is she based on a Brixham or a Lowestoft boat?

    Cheers, Nerys

"TIKI " - My Gaff Rigged Cutter
Final trials for my Gaff Rigged Bristol Pilot Cutter , started life as a static display model which I adapted for " Radio Control " . She is seen here on trial checking balance / trim /steering and simple sail control.
Certainly no claims here on scale or workmanship ! - just a " fun and functional " model which more than satisfies my initial challenge ! .

I can only thank my "first in command" - (the XYL) for sailing her - It gets a bit confusing trying to do both jobs at once ! .⛵

Nice conversion Phil, sails well by the looks of it. I have my eye on a similar display model in a haberdashery shop window, but I doubt it's for sale, (or if it is, it's $$$$$)

    Hi Cash,
Interesting to see what you guys are putting on the water. Now as an old fashioned sailor girl, I must admit to having a liking for that lovely wishbone schooner. She was gorgeous. I wish we could have seen more of the other sailing craft too, there was another smaller schooner that looked interesting as well as a couple of sloops.

    Cheers, Nerys.

Hi Nerys!! How you doing? The schooner is a customized Robbe “Atlantis”. The owner, Stephen, mad a few mods to make it look more realistic. The other large sailing craft is a racing boat in the Canterbury J class, the two smaller sloops are Micro Magics. Our little club is starting to grow a bit😀
