I built mine when Revell model first came out. Decided to make it a display model. It is big. We have here in MA on display that type sub. It went from us navy to Holland’s navy after the war. When I was in navy in 66 we docked alongside the ZeeLu. I had chance to go aboard. We traded Coca Cola for Amstels. I have a pic somewhere of sailor sitting on the deck sonar device. The ship is called the Sea Lion n it’s docked at Fall River MA museum site. I painted mine like that sub. I also built the Aluka and Bluefin from Dumas? I always wanted the prick sub but never hit it. I recently sold the Aluka sub. One problem I had 2.4 ghz transmitters won’t work for under water ships. I had to find an only 72 MHz one. I sold all mine years ago. The MHz equipment works well down to 3-4 feet underwater. Done time back I had another sub that had capability to dive by storing air compressed in a tube. Also water in a chamber. The Revell sub conversion is out there but costly. Just remember if you want to dive you can’t use the ghz radios. Wish I had pics of the RC subs. Just pic of static Revell. Lots of other ship projects I’m still finishing up
I saw a kit that converts the revel kit to a true diving sun. Or buy the Dumas kit. I have the Russian sun it dives when moving forward. Btw it works with old MHz Rc gear. Ghz Rc gear won’t penetrate depth of water.
Im looking at buying the revell gato class 1/72 scale and converting. I even found a blog where another gentleman had already built one. I hope to obtain it to add to my building collection of ships.
She is a dynamic sub, she dives when the forward dive planes are down, and the sub is moving forward.
I am still waiting for the ESC so I can complete construction.
