About this boat

I rescue this boat from disposal. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of the condition at that time, but I assume it was a "Bristol Bay".
After I had spruced up the fuselage with original paint, I turned my attention to the detail and electronics.
Step by step . . . . 😊 👍👍👍
Now I am waiting for my laser parts, which I commissioned someone to do.
I myself have been waiting for a month for the delivery of my small laser cutter.

Here are a few photos of the current state of my fantasy cutter

Hobbyist greetings
Michel-Claude

Hi Mike, I'm counting on the photos, eh!

"Two grandchildren, . . two boats, right?". Absolutely right, sacrosanct I'd say.
    Bravo Mike.

    Hi Alessandro,
Thanks for the words of praise, but I didn't take any photos.
I would still be at work!
As already mentioned, the sailing ship and the Yacht Commodore ‘Michelle’ are waiting to be reworked in my shipyard.
But I will make the effort to take some photos.
Although the little ‘Sylvie’ is active, I wanted to have a second ship. Two grandchildren, . . two boats, right?
    See you soon!
    Michel-C.

Hi Mike, I agree with Hermank about redoing everything, because I think there is enough room to do it.

I was thinking of a practical solution but I need some more detailed photos and more precise measurements.
The propeller shaft must be 4 mm, ok, the tube 5 mm. But for the latter are you referring to the internal or external diameter?
Did the old system use bearings or bushings?

I built mine with 4 mm brass tube, bearings 4 and 8 mm internal and external diameter.
Aluminum containment tube internal diameter 8 mm external diameter 10 mm.
Maybe the 10 mm containment tube is too much for your model.
With the bearing system you could go down to 9 mm, maybe 8 but not more with a 4 mm shaft.

Alternatively you can buy ready-made propeller shafts.
I have seen some quality ones on the internet and some very cheap ones. They are usually made of steel and do not use bearings.
The advantage is that you save a lot of time, the disadvantage is that there are relatively few lengths so you may have to adapt the position of the motor, moving it further forward or further back (if this is possible).

Alternatively, to avoid a lot of work (if you can straighten the old axle) you can use joints that connect the axle of different diameters (there are all sizes).

    Hi Herman
The drive shaft is 3mm and the tube 5mm
I'm already working on the new drive shaft. 👍🙄
    It's just an older model

    Michael c a good afternoon
I think you have to take out the shaft and replace it!
Or is the innerdiameter of the shaft 4 mms ?

    OMG, dear friends,
Unfortunately, my last trip with the cutter was a failure.
    See Forum propshaft lubrication . . . 😏
At that time, 3mm drive shafts were still used, which are now only available in 4mm.
In addition, the stern tube is slightly bent and I will also replace the engine.
It is definitely an old power guzzler. . . ☹️☹️☹️
Has anyone ever had this experience and had to replace the whole drive shaft with a larger one?
    questions upon questions!
Thank you in advance for any tips and tricks
    Your desperate Michel-C.

    Hi all,
On 28 April this year we have our baptisms at the club.
"Aline" will be baptised on this Sunday. We are hoping for great weather.
    Keep your fingers crossed!
By the way, my granddaughter Aline is the godmother. I named this boat after her, this is her favourite boat.
    Greetings Michel-C.

    Hello Herman,
On the contrary, no plans! But I received many photos from LewZ. From these I orentated myself, asked around everywhere ... . But when I had everything together, I eventually reached my goal! But Captain Haddock always had something to complain about. . . 😂😂😂

    Hello Herman, hello all,
Here is another detail. . .
My Captain Haddock is sometimes not in a good mood. Sometimes the sliding door closes badly and he uses a good sailor's shoe to close it!
    Good joke for today's Friday.
Good wind and always a hand's breadth of water under the keel, greetings to all from a landlubber.

    Hello Hermank!
Thank you for your praise! I and my wife painted them by hand for one reason: these cutters are often not perfect either, but you do need a steady hand.
I'm already tinkering again. . my stern wheel steamer. This one gives me more work than I thought . . .

    Hello together!
Today I had my first launch in the neighbour's little basin.
Everything was dry and to my complete satisfaction!
Cool thing, I'm really proud of my work with the help of my wife.
Hobbyist greetings and 🎂 Special Thanks also to LewZ (USA) who can count 79 years this week 🎂 He was a great help to me!👍👍👍

So, everyone, we'll soon be off on our maiden voyage, or gender-correctly:
zum Stapellauf = launch . . .👍👍👍 for my fantasy cutter boat.
The next ship has been waiting for a long time. A piece of junk called a sternwheeler. I already have the name " Reality "

Looks to be a typical inshore Fishing boat. I have been finishing Le Vendeen at 1:10 scale for some time and will post some pics when I have time.

    Hello hobbyist,
Here is an interim status after the destructive engine fire, because it was the wretched speed controller that was to blame! 😡 😡
I'm slowly making progress, I'm taking time for tinkering but also for the family and my wife, who also has her wishes! 😊😊
Fingers crossed for me that everything will turn out well.
    Best regards Michel-Cl.

    Hello everyone,
Slowly I move forward, had considered the old engine ok, but this was a mistake.
    Engine fire

Had to improvise a new motor mount, now solder the connections to the speed controller and adjust them.
Oh yes, the old speed controller was also burnt.
Tomorrow evening I will test everything again and if it is ok, I will continue with the other parts.
It's a mess of cables at the moment, but when everything works, it looks a bit more professional!
So and now good night, best regards. 😴😴😴😴

Yes definitely an AQUACRAFT "Bristol Bay" trawler with many added details such as the anchor winch, detailed hatch behind the front cabin, & detailed door on the front hut. Mine lacks a smoke generator, is totally original. I bought it prior to 2010 so it's at least 13y.o. Came with a 27MHz radio system. RTR, just add transmitter & lighting AA cells & a NiMH 6-cell pack for propulsion. BTW the sails on the 1:1 scale model are for stability in swells, they are not for propulsion. With her lights on she looks fantastic a halfhour after sunset. The brass prop is a nice touch.

    Hi Mike,
    I reckon 1/20 or 25ish is a good guess👍
Trawling around I found several sites offering the Bristol Bay / Bristol Trawler.
Turns out it's an Aquacraft ARTR boat, hull length 85cm.
One site, see link, offers useful tip re scale (scroll to the bottom).
    Using that tip-
Door height 3.5", man height say 6 feet = 72"
    Scale is 72/3.5=20.5 QED
    Cheers, Doug 😎

    Hello Roy!!
    😂😂😂
I don't know the scale, I assume 1:20/25, that's why I called it "my fantasy cutter" with name „Aline“
    (my granddaughters name)
and thanks for the tip to a landlubber like me about the ventilation pipe in the "kitchen", more like a coffee corner . . . 🤣🤣

    Thanks, Michel-Cl.

Hi the 'pipe' is the chimney from the kitchen, always looks like this to give an updraft no matter which way the wind is blowing, presumably over the cooking stove.
