You have done a good job searching, finding and treasure them. People don’t have an idea how much time and hours the builder has put in
Wel done Modelboat builder friend
Trev,
I have most of them posted to my "Harbour", here.
I feel fortunate to be able to collect and save/store them.
Rick,
I have a heated shed where I keep most of them. (picture of part of the shed storage attached)
I do have my sites set on some areas in our Family Room to rotate boats on display.
Still trying to convince the Director of Domestic Affairs to allow me to do this.
hermank,
In the case of the boats I posted yesterday, they all belonged to a long-time member of our club who had an extensive collection..
After he passed, they sat in storage for a few years before being passed on to younger members of his family.
It seems at some point they were divided up between several heirs, none of which had any interest in the hobby.
In the process, some were cared for, transported, and stored more carefully than others were.
I happened to find a couple of them on FB marketplace. This led to finding more of them with another heir.
The boats were not appreciated by the current owners, and they were looking to part with them.
The heir/owners considered them more of a liability than anything.
I offered a fair price, considering condition, and they accepted. I only got about 1/3 of the boats he had.
