Started this from scratch after seeing the plans in model boat mag. Did a bit of research on Google to clarify the deck and stair layout as this was not particularly clear. Also found out where the plans had been simplified for ease of construction especial note made of the 'Bow Breaker' which I was determined to include.
Decided on plank on frame construction with a covering of a single layer of fine woven fibreglass to the lower part of the hull. The project was started some 5 months ago and hopefully will be completed by early 2015. The superstructure is built from lit ply and plasticard. She will be powered by an 850 motor and 2 x 5000 lipo batteries. The Radars are both made to rotate using a 30rpm miniature geared motor mounted to the side of the lower radar. They are rotated using elastic bands, the drive band to the upper radar is in a figure '8' to rotate it in the opposite direction to the lower one. No idea if this is correct but from a visual point of view it looks much more interesting. All running lights will be working along with interior lighting.
18/3/2015 Now complete except for ballasting. Disco lighting on the aft upper deck. Port hole lights set in lighting conduit to concentrate the light to the window. I think there is about 60 LED lights. Will look fantastic at night as the 6 disco lights flash at random intervals and also change colour. Next challange is to arrange for disc sound!
