Thanks for your kind words both, it's reassuring to hear I'm not alone with what is happening, even though I know that I'm not. My wife and I are hoping to move down to my Mums house, my childhood home, and that will make things a little easier, and may give us a little more time for ourselves and any hobbies (although perhaps I'm just hoping that's going to be the case).
We are lucky in that Mum is only about 20 mins away, but it still adds a fair amount of time to each day.
My mother suffered from dementia for the last few years of her life and during that time it was very difficult to find too much time for any other activities.
Unfortunately my mother still lived in Bath in the West Country where her only remaining friends and (similar aged) sister in law lived, so we also had the additional problem of travel to complicate things a little as well.
It is a worry, but you are not alone as caring for our elderly parents has affected more of us than you might think.
Collecting them is definitely fun Chris, but doing something with them, rather than just sitting on them all desperately needs to play a part in it too, and asap as well.
3-4 hrs a day commuting these days doesn't help, and making sure Mum is safe and alright takes priority over pretty much everything else at present.
The time will come though, once things settle a bit 😐
Collecting them has been part of the fun and you have them there ready when you do get the time.
And you have time on your side unlike me! 😂 I was approaching retirement age before I even got interested in the hobby. And still haven't completed a build!
You're very kind Bob, and such a polite way too, of saying Will is a terrible hoarder (guilty as charged).
I promise that once this current episode of life experience that I've been thrown head first into has settled down a bit (I sure hope it does, as I cannot get through it otherwise 😞) I WILL make a proper start on my boats 😔
As Will starts to show his collection on the Classic Model Power Boats thread we can all enjoy them with him.
Will has certainly inspired me over the years to keep looking for those Classic Model Power Boats that had eluded me……but I have to admit that he has been much more successful at finding them that I have……
I remember your other Faireys but not the Swordsman. It's been quite awhile since we posted regularly on Mayhem and you had your models listed in your signature - well that was before you ran out of room! 😂
What kind of a question is that Chris, what you should be asking is “how many Swordsman does Will have”? 😂
Will is a dedicated Fairey Marine enthusiast who has experienced travelling in the Swordsman and Huntsman 31 - how could be fail to resist owning a Swordsman replica?
Oh I completely agree Bob, I don't need to buy ANY more boats.
Ooh look, I like those, it's cheap, and I haven't already got one/I've only got one of those 🙄😂
I can't guarantee that I won't end up buying any more, although I haven't bought any for possibly 2yrs now, so I've been good, or is it that I'm overdue buying one? 🤔
I agree Bob, as i can't imagine that they made much in the way of changes to the original part of the kit, just adding a 'top floor' onto the cabin roof, which as you say could probably be replaced if need be.
An easy way to get hold of a new old kit.
But I have quite a few restoration projects stacking up on me (again!), and at this moment in time so I would love to find one that did not need quite so much work !
I will get around to getting this one “sorted” (eventually) but I would love to get one on the water (and take a video of it) much sooner.

I can remember when every Tamiya kit came with a wiper board speedo like that.
…….and how many of those fragile ceramic “thingies” cracked and had to be replaced.
Yours looks a lot safer mounted on the top of the rear bulkhead than it would be in most model cars. Do you fancy giving it a run ?
Bob.
Mine does not look “right” as it has been bodged so that is another area that needs some attention.
…….a new kit would have been much faster and easier to build !

Stay strong 👍

Bob, you are correct, I have two of them 🙄

……..but when has that ever stopped us? 😂

Will
This could be an easy way of getting a new Sportsman by only changing the cabin roof (if it needs any changing?).

I know that you'll make a lovely boat of it.
Will
It shouldn’t take too long to get this one in the water - unlike my example that needs a lot of work.🧐
