I mainly scratch build my own models but when Dave Milbourn offered me one of the prototypes he'd built for testing the drawings for his scale 1:12 model it was too good to miss. This then set me on the course to build all my models to the same scale.
This included a Huntress Long Cabin version which features a stern-drive. Whilst wanting to build the classic well known Faireys I like to build some of their less well known ones as well.
Dave sadly passed away but I was then given the opportunity to obtain the second prototype which was even more detailed.

Yes please, I would love a template for a windscreen for the Huntsman.
I would be very grateful for one.

Yes, it will certainly go a lot better with a brushless motor and a Lipo. Do you need the template for the windscreen?

This is my Precedent Huntsman but this is the wooden hulled version.
Still the 34" the same as the fibreglass hull.
I have a MFA 850 brushed motor in it and I used to run it with a 12v lead acid battery.
Very heavy though. I am going to put a brushless in it at some point and use a LiPo battery. SHould go a lot better, I did run it a mile up the River Thurne in Norfolk a few yewars back and under Potter Heigham Bridge, we followed it in my own 21ft cabin cruiser.
that was fun. She planed the water well and the other boats wash. We got a few funny looks.
I need to make her a new windscreen and give her a new coat of paint I think.
I will give her a few cleats and fittings as well I think. Make her look a bit better, but she was built back in the mid eighties.
I bought it direct from the factory as the model shop didn't have one in stock and I only live about 6 miles up the road.
They were reluctant to sell it to me but after a bit of begging I got it cheaper then the mode shop would have sold it for.
The outer sleeve was supported in places along it's length and support brackets are bolted in place in case it ever needs to come out.

I am well impressed. She planes the water great.
I love the layout that you have done, so neat and tidy. I wish I done mine like that.
You have hidden the control rods to the out drive as well.

The smaller Huntress is fine there and handles well too for a small model.
At 34' long it was a good size model that handled the club waters at Bury Metro Club very well indeed.
I did notice another 34" Huntress running on the same water that day, and it too was running very nicely.
The Huntress is a very good looking model in whatever size suites its owner, and like every other Fairy Marine Classic Model Power Boat that I have ever driven, they work very well and aways look good on the water.

I'd be very interested in buying one of your Huntsman 31 hulls if you do decide to sell.
As regards my Huntress with stern-drive it is 23" long with the stern-drive adding another couple of inches. With the Huntress being quite a small model I struggled to find a scale looking stern-drive but eventually found a supplier in Germany. Unfortunately they are no longer available so I won't run it too often.
I've still got to finish it but it has undertaken lake trials where it performed very well on 3S. Handles nicely and planes easily. Don't have any video at the moment as I was on my own and it was difficult enough getting photographs!

I have been looking at your pictures ofyour Fairey Fleet.
I am very envious.
I am curious as to the length of the Huntress with the stern-drive. Also have you had her out
on the water yet and if so how does she perform.
Does she plane well and do you have any video of her??
I have 2 stern-drives and I'm thinking of using it on a Huntsman Hull myself.
I do have 2 Hulls I may be putting one up for sale soon, but not sure yet
and I need to find a suitable box for sending it in and a secure curiour
service with a decent price first.
They are both from the Anglia Model Shop before they closed down.
I enjoyed some helpful correspondence with Dave before he passed, and he helped and gave me some good advice when I first started working on my Swordsman and actually sent me the deck stain that he had left over as a guide for a realistic deck colour.
I have driven a Huntress at the Bury Club last year and I really enjoyed it. The boat drove very well and I was sad to give it back to the owner afterwards.
If I had time, I would make a Huntress, but I have too many other projects to finish at the moment…but if I should see a nice example for sale, I would add it to my fleet and enjoy driving it.
