Adam started coming with me to the Southport Club when I was testing the various options to stop my own Sea Commander wanting to sub marinate when it was turning right into choppy water, and he took-most of the videos of the various tests that have been shown on here since.
This was a good ploy as he soon became “hooked” and fancied building a Sea Commander of his own, so I found an unbuild original kit for him and he is detailing his progress with it here.
One of the first things we did when Adam started to build his new (original Aerokits`) kit was to chop-off the excess “straight running” keel to prevent this new build suffering with the same problems that mine had.
This is Adam’s first build and he has been building it with the use of only one semi-working eye for most of the time so he has to be congratulated for taking it on in the first place.
We are looking forward to the day when we can run our Sea Commanders together so we can compare them as mine has non-standard strakes fitted, and Adam’s will not have any strakes (as per normal build) so we can see if the strakes help or hinder the handling of the Sea Commander's.
Both model's will have exactly the same motors and so they will make an interesting comparison with each other.
