About this boat

My first model boat build in at least 40 years..! Started January 2020 and launched March 2022, based on the Amati 1/10th scale kit with a few extras in terms of electronics, faux leather upholstery and custom brass / chromed fittings. Hull form slightly modified along the forward chine to generate more lift forward. Two brushless 3530 1100kv motors using belts to get a low shaft angle driving exposed shafts. Two 3,300mah LiPos give an hours run time.

Welcome David, great to see you have joined this forum.

Fellow members - if you think this model is good (understatement!), which indeed it is, then wait until you see David's 1:5 build of the same boat, it will blow your mind!

Beautiful model. I built the same kit about 5 years ago. My wife bought it for my 70th birthday and again it took me just over 2 years to build it. My wife also bought the suggested motorisation kit which come with two gear boxes. Your configuration seems to be better at getting it up onto a plane! Love your seats and the 'illuminated' instrument panel. Well done! By the way, if anyone is interested, I've done a build blog for my model on this great website!

What an absolutely beautiful build! 👏
The craftsmanship and attention to detail are outstanding, especially the custom brass/chromed fittings, upholstery, and that gorgeous finish.

I also really like the engineering choices with the twin brushless motors and belt drive to achieve those low shaft angles.

After a 40-year break from model building, you certainly came back in style! Congratulations on an impressive first build and a very successful launch. ⚓️👏
