About this boat
The temptation is to strip it and restore it, but I quite like it the way it is.
The classic cream and red hull with the stained deck and cabin sides is not a combination that I would have currently come up with, but it has a nice “vintage” look, and I am thinking about keeping it exactly the way it is.
A new prop shaft and running gear with a little bit of a tidy-up rather than a full rebuilt may be the way to go with this small 24” long Classic Model Power Boat.
I have treated it to a new “orange box” shaped boat stand, so it is ready to be transported and used as a member of the fleet that needs to be finished and out on the water.

I think the same - just enough to "touch-up" the rough areas that need some attention, but leaving the nice "patina" of age to shine through.
It is very unusual to find a nice Classic Model Power Boat that is in good enough condition to continue running without needing too much extra work to keep it working well.

Hi Ian,
Thank you for your input.
I am looking forward to recycling my r/c car motors, ESC and hard cased LiPo battery packs to power some of my Classic Model Power Boats.

Not just any old boat ColRay, - it is another Classic Model Power Boat to get back on the water .
Hopefully it will inspire some that see it to "join the mission" and find more Classic Model Power Boats to restore !

Hi Peter,
I very much participate in keeping Classic Model Power Boats alive and running for others to see and enjoy.........and hopefully convert a few more along the way to joining us and adding to those classic models that are already saved.

Inside, the boat is tidy and dry and ready to have a new motor mount and servo mount making and fitting….and a fresh coat of grey paint, before fitting some electrics.
My first instinct would be to fit a small out-runner motor to power it with, but since I have finally given-up r/c car racing I have some 540 sized brushed and brushless motors that could be given a new home that should power this model along very nicely.
Likewise, my now unused r/c car ESC could also be used in this model, so it could end up with a simple 540 brushed motor, or a similar sized brushless motor as both are available.
1C and 2C LiPo packs from various classes of racing are also now redundant and looking for a new home, so it it unlikely that any new motors, ESC or battery packs will be purchased for this Sea Scout.
