   Hello Dave, Nice one, makes into a great little sailor !. Advice, all the old rules realy Measure twice , cut once. Plenty of visual before you cut, if it dunna look right before cutting check it again, Stick to the plan, Diversion is an escallator of headaches. Canna remember what the plan says for the hull construction, but i have used Balsa planks before now, 1/4" x 1/8", easily worked, once completed, plenty of coats of dope/thinners, about 25% thinners to the Dope The Tissue cover the whole hull, sticking it down with dope, painting it on, but dont cut the paper joints tear them , it will look terrible but the tear joints blend in better than cut edges with a good overlap on the joints, again once finished applying the tissue paper, dope the whole thing again same mixture and about 6 coats, with a quick rub down inbetween coats with some sandpaper about a 240 grade, dont be to fussy with the sanding at this stage , you are only giving the surface a "Key" for the next cote. You could use a cyno adhesive for tacking the planks in position, then paint into the joints aroind the bulkheads to planks with a PVA of your choice, i would use an Alphatic glue as this drys hard and can be worked when dry, some pva glues dry to like a rubber consistancy and roll under the sandpaper giving a lumpy finish. Have fun, and dont forget some pics .. Muddy..

   Hello Ian, most excellent, and i did enjoy the video's great stuff...
   Like you i have been "laid-up" for a while, not by my choice, but the clock is ticking and we all must abide to the rules in one way or another. Plus i,m now in trouble, been caught looking through my Model Boat Plans Handbook Ha Ha ! But i have a few Manufacturing mistakes to rectify first on other constructions, boats of course. Thank you again, i have enjoyed the pics and Vid's, most enjoyable.. Regards Muddy..

   I have only just started using this site again after quite a long break so I'm a bit hazy as to how it all works. My Vic Smeed boats are in the Harbour section which I happened to look all the way through yesterday (time on my hands!) I had forgotten they were there. They are quite early, about seven years ago. Perhaps if you click on my profile you would find my 'harbour'.

   That sounds good, have often looked at Silver Mist as there are a few rolls of 1" sticky brown paper sat on the self ha ha.. I would like to see them, but i,m not good with techo stuff, what would i look for and where if you dont mind ? ATB

   Always nice to see a Vic Smeed design. I have built several now, usually enlarged. There are pictures on this site, a Silver Mist, a Veleta and a Mistral. Years ago I built his Guardsman and hope to build an enlarged version on a GRP hull next.

   Hello Thank you for the report, this is a very nice little boat that is ideal for a small car, where it could be placed on the back seat without rearranging the furniture. It does "Plough" through the water and with twin screw's is very maneuverable. It does sit rather heavy, or should i say my version of the the model does, but now using Li-ion battery has helped with the weight. Both drive units are totally independent, as in Battery ( x2 ), Speed Controlers ( x2 ).
