About this boat

My attempt at a privately owned ST which was imported to NZ in 1955 by ship by a doctor who used it to visit patients in the South Island sounds. It was later brought up to Auckland and was owned by a family at Bucklands Beach for many years from the 60s t0 80s. I grew up there, and Jaguar was one of my favourite boats. It was fitted with GM 453 Detroit Diesels as it still is today, and is supposedly undergoing a re-build by its latest owner.

Hi Peter, thanks, colour scheme is pretty much ex RNZAF (even though this boat was privately imported in 1955 by a doctor, - the RNZAF having a number of UK and NZ built versions) There was talk of it being used by T.E.A.L airlines for the flying boats in Wellington, and also by the RNZAF but there is no factual/photographic evidence to back this up.
Also talk of it being imported from Singapore (also a T.E.A.L flying boat stop) but again no evidence. Even the BMPB team can't place it from the makers plate. We know it was built in Southampton and the yard, but that's it. Current owner was after history as well.

Hi Marky, thanks for the comment, no measurements, (took original pic on hard around 1970 and never thought I'd ever be making a model of it) just scaled up from a plan and elevation drawing from Model Boats mag 1975 (and my pic and friends super 8 movie captures).
Blew it up to 40" which just fitted nicely on AO paper. Just measured positions of coamings, windows etc and sort of winged it from there. Had to correct a few mistakes in the drawings and while building, (ie found when flipping the bulkheads on the centerline, they were quite a bit different side to side and also had to make another bulkhead - No3- as the stringers wanted to pull in without it. )
It's still not correct around the bow, as it's a bit full around the chine, and could have had more flare and been finer, but sometimes these things only show up when it's too late. Still looks reasonable though. Quite a bit of fiddling to get it looking ok!
