   That steam engine looks as if it has a displacement lubricator. Messy but unavoidable.
   The principle is that steam forces STEAM OIL +/-600W to the cylinders and replaces it with water, hence the draincock on the bottom.
   Get used to cleaning the boat out

   The notch bar only needs to be rotated 180% for the smooth side as it is only held in place by the two screws ate each end. I have built the engine and have it here. As stated on my other replies, there is a lot of ways to do this, just have fun when working on it and enjoy🙂

   I can see only one problem the reversing lever sits on a notched bar, as I said you need a powerful servo to hold in position as the notched reversing stand would need to be changed to a flat bar as the servo can't do both, when you engage a position on the reverser as per photo you can see it needs lifting and moving and the valve chest pressure fights with itself. Not much but can feel it. The notched bar needs to be replaced with a flat bar. Trial and error because as you move the lever the slide valve porting alters as you move it you get what they call cut off. Hence the number of notches. At full throw is a 100% cut off when moving it back to centre you alter the cutoff and the engine will steam more economically! But you need to play with that on the water.😀😀😀
