I hadn't built a boat for some years, having been distracted by aerobatic fixed wing aircraft and helicopters. Static sailing ship models keep you busy for years for comparatively small outlay, so ideal retirement projects.
HMS Peregrine was my re-intro model.
Thanks for the info Mike.
I think I'm gonna be taking more interest in kitchen equipment shops in future!
Should puzzle and amuse Gisela😉
Cheers, Doug 😎
It's olive wood which was originally a kitchen chopping board.
It's very hard! To drive little brass pins in requires a hole drilling first otherwise they bend.
Glad you like the dry dock display stand. My HMS Fly now sits in a similar stand.

Hi nonsuch,
Like you R?C planes and model engineering was my forte. I gave up R/C flying due to eyesight and in SA a proliferation of model jets. I used to get bitched at by the jet boys for the slow take off and landings of my 16' Scale Lanc. Trouble is I can' define whether it is coming towards me or going away from me! I gave up model engineering due to the high cost! A copper boiler can now cost over a GBP 1000.00, thats without the rest of the loco/traction engine
