Not built to a specific ship, but made to my liking. Way to fast on the water at the moment with a 360 motor and 35mm prop, so going to try a 30mm prop
There's something about the Flower Class corvettes to someone of my age. They scream Atlantic convoys, the Cruel Sea and other memories of my childhood.
Back on the water for testing today and I’m pleased to say that the 360 motor with 2.5:1 reduction gearbox and the original 35mm prop worked a treat. I hated having to modify the boat motor, as there isn’t much room to get fingers in, but I glued everything back on that I knocked off in the process, and really glad I bit the bullet and changed the motor.
Morning Bruce.
Thanks for the pictures.
Really good to see.
It’s amazing what we can squeeze into such small areas.
Would be interested to see the other motor layout when fitted👍
Regards Bill.
Hi Bruce,
A beautiful, er scruffy, job 😉
Just a thought about the speed!
Check your TX manual and see if it has a setting to limit the 'servo' travel.
Often labelled End Of Travel or EOT.
You can also use this to limit the ESC signal, thus limiting the speed.
E.g. set the 'travel limit' on the channel you are using for the ESC to 50% and your ship will run at max half the speed that she was.
Much cheaper (and quicker) than a total refit 😁
Just a thunk!
Cheers, Doug 😎
I have a similar Corvette it was the Matchbox/Revelle kit to start with, if it helps I run mine with a 2.5:1 reduction gearbox, this slows the propeller rotation speed, so a 35mm prop is not too fast I run a 40mm prop with a 6v supply and with 6v 4Ah battery will run for several hours at a realistic speed. My congratulations to your wife if the weathering is her work, Can we see some of your other boats please, they look interesting. Most of us build boats that run too fast to be realistic, it can usually be sorted out by swapping over some bits.

The mountings have been modified, and tomorrow a 2.5:1 reduction gearbox motor gets fitted.
Fingers crossed that this fixed the speed problems.
I really don't fancy trying to change it now having thought epoxying in the mount was a good idea, at the time. I'll just try a smaller prop.
My current model (a tid tug) has a 6:1 gearbox and is screwed down, so at least I'm learning from my mistakes.
