So far my collection resembles "The Island of Misfit Toys". I've picked up several boats that are old builds and have been neglected. I'm giving them the TLC they need, hoping to bring them back to their former glory. Once I get enough practice/ experience I intend to take on a full build.
Boatshed,
In the interest of maintaining a good relationship with the Park Board that regulates our pond, over this winter we worked together to come up with "Pond Rules". The Park Board had sandwich boards made up with their name on the boards, which they gave us. We can put these out anytime we are using the ponds. We welcome these rules, as we don't want any more member boats damaged or worse yet for somebody to get injured by an out of control boat.

At Centennial Lakes, the "Home Pond" for my club, we have had several of our member's boats badly damaged or destroyed by fast electrics in the hands of inexperienced users. We have worked with the city to regulate the use of fast electrics on the city park ponds. There are three connected ponds, and fast electrics are supposed to stay only in the larger south pond. Scale and sail boats mostly use the center pond. The city also imposed a 15mph speed limit on all three ponds. It's sad that these measures had to be put in place, but they are a result of the irresponsible use of the faster boats.

Hi DWBrinkman,
Yes that was what I meant, it's just over here in the UK all my friend's call them whether Petrol (gas as your side of the pond refer to it) or Nitro then they are quickly banning it in most area's. We do still had a few that I know of, but there are probably more, that still allow them. But the ones I do know of are a minimum of 50 miles from where I live.
So I have sold off virtually all of my I/C engines and I'm slowly changing to Brushless Motors.

If you are referring to Internal Combustion engine powered boats. The answer at Centennial Lakes is a definite NO. I believe the pond that Andover RC Boat club uses is open to gas and nitro powered boats. Many areas here are also banning them. I have a beautiful Traxxus Nitro Vee boat in my "Harbour" that I am pretty restricted as to where I can use it. Luckily, I live on a lake that the DNR has classified as a "recreational lake", so it is open to pretty much everything. The problem there is one is competing with full size wake boats which create 3-4 foot wakes. The best time for RC boating is very early morning or just before sunset, when the lake quiets down.

Are you allowed to use I/C powered model boats on your lakes? Over here in the UK many area's are slowly getting to ban them on their ponds.

There are 3 connected ponds in the park. The center pond is typically used by scale & sailboats. The South pond can used by fast electric boats and is used by sailboats for competition events.
These are the "Home Ponds" for the Edina Model Yacht Club" (www.emyc.org).
