She's gonna be a real head turner Rick 👍😋
Be prepared for the 'long haul' with the varnishing to achieve the glass finish such a boat deserves. Working through W&D grades from about 480 on the EzeKote then up to (or is that down to?) 3000 for the varnish coats. Finally finish off with fine auto cutting polish - AKA Anti Hologram Polish. Believe me it's worth the effort👍 Main ingredient being patience😉
Happy finishing
Cheers, Doug 😎
Found all the parts to build the seats. All now built. Sanding fit and finish to come.

Sounds Like a Plan, Rick 👍
On the Typhoon, after staining, I coated the Mahogany with Epoxy before varnishing.
My mistake was, I used the wrong Hardner. When Epoxy is used as a clear coat there is a special Hardner, otherwise you can get some blushing. Which you can faintly see in some areas in a certain light.
Trev
Why would you want to stain mahogany?!
It has such a wonderful grain and colour of it's own.
Attached are pics of the mahogany cabin roof on my restored Sea Scout.
after sanding and dust removal I sealed it with 2 coats of Lord Nelson sealer.
(Nowadays I use EzeKote diluted with ca 20% water.)
Then several coats of Lord Nelson varnish and a final spray coat of the clear lacquer used on cars as a final coat for scratch resistance and UV protection.
Lots n lots of sanding with ever finer W&D between coats.
And several buckets of patience🤔
Cheers, Doug😎

The kit called for styrene to be used for the rub rail. Decided to use 1/8 x 1/16 mahagany strips for the rub rail.

Going foreword started the cabin trim. All went well until placing the cover on to check fit. This is where it was wrong. Off the boat the cover looked right but the sides were to big
striped the cloth off the cover and shaped the cover to fit put the cloth back on. Now cover and trim look good.
