RAM48 Sound Generator!

Captain's Log:

Tug Brooklyn is a 1910 Steam Tug.
So, Why not have it sound like a Steam Tugboat!

I ordered the RAM48 Steam engine sound generator.
All I have to do is install it!
The RAM48 doesn't go connected to the motor.
Like other RAM sound Generators!
The RAM48 uses a Magnet that is glued to the shaft!
Or in my case the universal coupler!
I didn't think it was right to glue the magnet to the shaft.
What if the shaft has to be taken out for maintenance!

Anyway the RAM48 works with a magnet and sensor chip!
To make the Chuff and Hiss sound!

OK, after you let the magnet dry over night!
You then have to carefully.
Place the sensor chip about 1/8".
Away from the magnet!

Since Tug Brooklyn is made of Plastic.
I can use a scrap piece of Plastic.
To hold the sensor chip in place!

Well, that's it for now.
I'll update this post.
As I work on setting up the sensor chip connection!

Smoker Update!

Today I had to decide whether to send the smoker. I purchased almost two weeks ago! Which I am because it doesn't smoke like it's contra part!
So, I called Harbor Models Spoke with Nick. I told him how it wasn't really smoking! He agreed so come this Friday morning. I'll be shipping it out to be looked at!

Now the 12 volt smoker works like a charm!
A very good unit I might say!

    Thanks Don,

I also know back then circa 1910.
They would also tie small logs as fenders!
But I don't think I would like to tie small pieces of wood dowels.
To her hull just wouldn't look right!

Oh, I was talking to a friend of mine.
    He recommended dyeing them!
I'm going to make them look like there made of Hemp!

Back to 12 volt Smoker!

Well, I got back my 6 volt smoker.
I had sent it to be looked at.
Just wasn't smoking a lot.
But, everything checks out OK!
I like the 12 volt Smoker instead!
So, I'm ordering another 12 volt smoker and a 12 volt motor!
The 12 volt smoker tends to smoke more.

I figure I'll use the 6 volt smoker and motor.
For my next build. Which will be the Tug
Douglas Greg 1/25 scale!
See the 6 volt smoker.
Smokes like a diesel throttling up!
I'm going to make the Douglas Greg a diesel Tug!

Here is the 6 volt smoker compared to the 12 volt smoker!

6 volt smoker:
Versus
12 volt smoker:

A minor adjustment!

OK, I made a minor adjustment.
To the amount of smoke liquid.
Used and now it works correctly!👍

So, figuring that out just saved me.
About $190.00!😱

New Fenders

I was using tires as fenders.
But, didn't really like them.
So, I ordered new string fenders!
I had to dye them dying them took about 5 hours!

So, What do you think of Brooklyn's New fenders?

As Marky says it suits the Brooklyn.Looks like I will have to put
the same style of fenders on my New Jersey. The tires kept being ripped off.Close encounters with the dock. They do look better on an older period tug.👍
