Hiya, Yes useful photos from Gupi. I was thinking of putting some thin aluminium along the keel during the build in order to stop and detachable keel wearing the holes thin and breaking off but your idea of a keel box is probably better - if there is room inside. It sounds like it might be rather tight in the hull. I'll have a search for the winch you mention. Thanks for your help - any build photos, diagrams etc will be helpful. My build might be rather slow because I can only do a bit at a time before my hands start to give me 'jip'! I then have to rest them for a while - problems with getting older! 😀😀

Hiya,
Just ordered the 2X 30A ESC Brushed Brush Motor Speed Controller For RC Car Boat Model Reverse XY as they came back to me with an offer price of £6.83 incl VAT and postage so I thought can't go wrong hopefully at that price! Just had a look at the sail winch on Howes Models but there is a choice of Kingsmax winches you suggested. They vary from 1.5, 2, 4 and 6 turns. The 6 turns one also has an optional metal geared version. Any suggestions as to which will be best please? Will this winch be able to control the jibs, mainsail and the aft sail?
My Bruma kit still hasn't arrived so I think I will be claiming a refund tomorrow!☹️
Have a good week. Cheers Duncan

Hi Roy,
Sorry to trouble you again. I've just seen this mixer which sounds to do what we want and is under £20. Like I say I'm a novice at this so I don't understand the wiring shown in the photo and whether I still need the speed controllers as well that I've ordered.
Please let me know what you think.
Thanks
Duncan

Unfortunately it has now gone out of stock but I've asked if they are getting anymore. It says this particular model (WTail mixer) is for two motors and a rudder so I thought it would be perfect!
"It is ideal for model boats that have two motors and also a rudder.
The mixer module is easy to connect up and allows you to use your transmitters throttle and rudder/steering chanels to operate your model by mixing the signals to each speed controller/motor to speed up or slow down to give steering effect. The WTail mixer also has two extra outputs to allow you to connect up a rudder and a further centrally mounted motor. "
So it sounds like it could even control 3 motors!
Thanks for your time and input. The cutting of the live wire on one ESC I would have never thought of - so thank you for pointing that out.
Cheers

Hi Roy,
It's been a while since wordle was mentioned in the forum as a potential replacement to the question of the day, but I've been working quietly on it in the background and wondering if you would like to be an early test user?
I think the consensus is to keep the questions of the day, however iffy they may be, so the likelihood is that I'll move the question of the day and the wordle puzzle away from the homepage, with just a subtle link for those who are interested.
This wont be the final page for wordle, as I will integrate it into a forum thread in just the same way as the daily question, but for demo purposes, please feel free to have a go each day! It'll be the same wordle for everyone each day once live.
Let me know if you'd like to test this, if it works and if it does, if anything can be improved 😊
Thanks,
Stephen

Hi Roy,
Pleased you got it in 3! Yes, all words will be of a maritime nature. Obviously though, sticking with 5 letters is very restrictive, so words will range from 4 letters to 8 letters. Today's one is actually quite tricky!
I also don't know what's going to come up each day, unlike the questions of the day. There's a database of words which I have gone through, but I'll likely forget everything, just like today's one. Got it on the very last attempt!
The real wordle does have an 'I give up' option. I may need to add that if people simply get annoyed and want to reveal the answer.

Hi Roy!
Thanks for your reply...the white metal fittings are pretty much blobs on their own. 😂
But, honestly I have a strange affection for Sterling Models. I only wish they had gone the way of Guillows and switched over to laser cutting. Everyone's doing it now.
As I am a scratch building and kit-bashing fiend I will get the Caltex ship shape. No matter what!
Best -- Guy
p.s. no worries about being sued, they've gone the way of the Dodo. 😉

Hiya,
Thanks for that info. I had a look on Aliexpress at the ESC. Sorry if I'm being stupid but what is the 1 channel lead for please? Also what does it mean when they say on the price 'with coins'. Do they mean bitcoins?
Cheers Duncan

Being a novice with electrics, could you please draw me a simple wiring diagram? Is this information you sent referring to the ESC mixer you mentioned from Aliexpress?
Hope you don't think I'm being a nuisance but I'm just learning! I had ordered 2X 30A ESC Brushed Brush Motor Speed Controller For RC Car Boat Model Revers XY at £5.69 for 2 but not due until 6/7/23
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/295583083823 . No problem if I don't use them!
Cheers
