Re: Hi Duncan Mantua Bruma ESC

Hiya, Since my last email I have decided to get the Wtail mixer which I mentioned to you earlier. I saw it on Howes models after following your advice about the KingMax sail winches. I opted for a 4 turns one - hope this will be the right choice!
I also ordered the rudder servo and 2x 385 motors with mounts. I could probably have got some things a bit cheaper else where but then when you add on postage you end up overall worse off!

The water scoop is for my fire boat!

King MAX 4 Turn Standard Size Drum Sail Servo Winch - SW4805-4PA 1 £9.99
300mm Servo Extension Lead for Futaba, JP, Hitec etc 1 £0.85
Universal Water Scoop Set 1 £2.50
M Troniks W-Tail Marine Mixer 1 £19.99
MFA RE 385 (4.5-15v) Motor 2 £11.50
Coupling Universal Joint Only 2 £4.90
35mm M4 Nylon Propeller LH Brass Coloured 1 £3.99
35mm M4 Nylon Propeller RH Brass Coloured 1 £3.99
Standard Motor Mount for 385-400 Motors 2 £4.50
Futaba/Hitec Y lead
Thanks for all your advice. I hope you don't mind me going with the Wtail mixer.🤞
Have a good day.
Cheers
Duncan

Re: Hi Duncan Mantua Bruma ESC

Hi Roy, It is a Planet TS2+2 2.4Ghz so it has 2 channels with 2 aux channels. I like it because with a flick of a switch on the TX you can 'slug' the channels. This is very useful when our grandson has a go at sailing it my fireboat !

Re: Hi Duncan Mantua Bruma ESC

I have also got a Flysky FSi6 transmitter and I found you can buy a receiver for this one and it is cheaper! Virtually everyone is out of stock for the Planet 2+2 system. So I've ordered one from Amazon for £16.99 and free delivery tomorrow. I haven't used this transmitter for about 3 years and I had forgotten about it! I used it in my fibreglass Marblehead yacht which I haven't used for a while because it isn't the easiest of boats to travel around with - especially the mast!😀

Re: Sailing

Roy
You flatter me! I must admit I had given thought to attempting to draw a working plan for a model on the lines of Inge1v but considered it a
bridge too far
. I must admit to surprising myself on occasions that I am able to produce work that I would have thought impossible ten or so years ago.
I have done a swop deal with another follower of MBW, I get plans for my dream and he gets plans and ready cut frames in ply for a Romanza which I will never build, I should have realised that it would not fit in my car and would take over my workroom. Both parties in the deal are happy, so hopefully it should all end well.
Take care and thanks for your support ChrisG

Re: Sailing

Hello Roy
I think your suggestion may well become a necessity, I have received the plans and they are by Revel, two large sheets of everything but plans for the hull. I do however know the length overall 104", depth and of course beam at 11".
The size although large suits me well, the question is, given the information I have can I draw a hull shaped frames that will complement the topsides? I am also not convinced that the shape I have is quite as elegant as your model which seems to be less chunky.
Lots of thinking to do and wondering which plans I have with similar hull shape as a starting point, please wish me luck.
All the very best Chris

Re: Sailing

Hello Roy
I have started chasing my tail and cannot find Vic Smeed Petrel in Model Maker, have you any notion of the month in 1963 so I can get a back copy.
The Caribee plan is of bread and butter construction and am unsure what form the hull plan shape will be.
Coincidently the hull shape in question was that of my last yacht which I sold a couple of years ago a Samphire 26, long keeled and sailed like a dream, but I have no plan for that either sadly just photo`s.
Thanks for your help thus far, regards ChrisG

Re: Sailing

I am very grateful to you Roy just let me know how to cover your costs.
I in turn have just sent for Marine Modelling Magazine 2002 in which it has plans for another similar looking vessel, Moonduster. If this is at all similar I will send for the plans. I am hoping that if I get enough information it will give me the confidence to put pen to paper and commence drawing.
When I have some definitive ideas I will update my Build Blog but meantime I will resist from boring members.
Many thanks again Chris

Re: Being in Irons

Hi Roy, I know the points of sail I just haven't come across being in irons before. I'm more of a powerboat type myself...

Crew figures

Hi Roycv. Thanks for your interest, I believe the figures are released as part of the DR Who tv series. Having said that I was shopping with wife this afternoon and came across a new set of figures in the dr who set. There was quite a selection compared to last year when I came across them. Last year I bought 2 packs as they contained a mixture of human and monsters but this afternoon some packs had 3 figures that are very workable. Sorry for rambling but the shop was B&M same as where I got them last year the price was £12.99 per pack of 3.
