PS to question 10.
About 20 years ago I also drove a Rover for a while here in Germany, took it to England once to get new front wheel bearings fitted in Eastbourne while visiting my parents.
It was an SD1 with the 2.7 litre Honda V6 engine. Gisela found it for me!😉
Lovely car to drive.
Almost scary when on full song on the German autobahn!😮 Porsche? ... Who?😁
Pic shows one in the same colour that mine was.
Absolutely hated to let her go, but she was a real gas guzzler🤔
So moved on to a Toyota Yaris TS Sport, same colour! Similar BHP but half the weight and a fraction of the gas guzzling (and CO2). Also good fun though😊
Cheers All, Doug 😎

Hi Redpop, Ref 10th question.
Another 'no brainer' for those of us who have restored and/or driven this particular marque!
And there are quite a few such members here apart from me.
(I'm sure that 'Boatshed' got this question right as well!😉)
Nothing more satisfying as plonking that badge on as the last act following a successful respray.
I transformed my 2000 from a dingy mud brown to gleaming black and silver.
Had to let it go, as well as a refurbished Audi 100🤔, when I moved here to Munich Oct. '85.
Ah well, you can't have everything - so I started driving BMWs instead 😁
A 520i like mine back then can now be seen in the BMW museum. Hey ho, tempus fugit 🙄
Cheers, All, Doug 😎

According to the saying, which creatures desert a sinking ship?
A. Cats (0%)
B. Dogs (0%)
C. Rats (100%) - Correct Answer (188 entries)
D. Sharks (0%)

First time we've had 100% correct answers!

We've now 394 members, across 24 countries taking part. I'm so pleased you're all enjoying the daily questions 😊

Christmas Cards - There is only about one week left if you want a card, especially anyone outside the UK (7 day delivery times). They are all charity cards, this year it's going towards Young Lives vs Cancer. There's no requirement to pay anything towards it, but if you do, it is very much appreciated, it does help charity and to cover postal costs. All cards are hand written (except the envelope address 😆).

News still to come on possible additions to the prize fund too! Hoping to have quite a few winners this year! 🎉🎁🎉🎁

Which word means the kitchen on a ship?
A. Gallows (0%)
B. Gallery (4%)
C. Galley (94%) - Correct Answer (164 entries)
D. Galleon (2%)

Overall stats so far;
We now have 744 entries, spanning 23 countries! If you've 5 correct answers now, and we've 12 winners (there may be more winners yet, let's see!), then you've a 7% chance! The UK National Lottery by comparison is 0.000002% 😯

Keep checking back each day, the more correct entries the higher your chances 😎 if you're joining this later in the month, don't worry, there's still a chance of winning, even with a single entry. It's worth a try 🤞

The daily questions are always on the home page of the website, right at the top. Likewise on the home screen of the mobile apps.

Couldn't miss Stephen, a 'No brainer' which is good for me cos I ain't got one 😁
Still remember listening to "Here is The Shipping Forecast and Gale Warnings for ..." on BBC 1500metres while doing my homework on the dining room table.
Oh those wonderful well modulated, resonant tones-
Viking, Forties, Cromarty, Tyne, Forth, Dogger, Humber, Dover, Wight, Portland etc etc.
Stamped on my mind😉
Was living near Weston Super Mare at the time so the one that interested me most was Lundy, covering the Bristol Channel.

You're certainly not the only one, I got it wrong too! Today's question (3rd) was an £8,000 question on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire (UK) in Jan 1999. Interestingly, the contestant asked the audience and only 19% of them got it correct. With the majority going for the wrong answer, the contestant lost the money.

Pleased there are a few avoiding Google mind! If I could reliably disqualify the Google-rs, I would 🤣 🤣

In 1872, the ship Mary Celeste was found abandoned in which ocean?
A. Arctic (5%)
B. Pacific (5%)
C. Indian (1%)
D. Atlantic (89%) - Correct Answer (148 entries)

In a University boat race, which crew member is responsible for steering?
A. Stroke oar (1%)
B. Cox (97%) - Correct Answer (199 entries)
C. Captain (1%)
D. Number eight (1%)

I'm inclined to think people are using Google! Although I might be wrong judging on the answers to today's question so far 😁 I'll keep this thread going if people are interested to know the stats as we go along?

It's looking like they'll be 12 winners (12 prizes), so you never know, it's worth a go 👍

And off we go! They'll be a new nautical question every day throughout December. All correct entries will go into the hat and the winners will be announced on New Years Day.

We now have quite a few prizes, so they'll be multiple winners this year!

The questions are at the ready for December! One question per day, if you answer correctly, you’re in the draw!

So that just leaves prizes… it would be great to have a few winners, but obviously it all depends on prizes. I’m sure people would rather things other than website merchandise! So throwing it out there, if anyone has gift ideas, or something they’re never going to use but might make a fun gift, please pop a PM to me.

Hope y’all looking forward to it!
