Years ago I found a friendly person at the Hendon Museum who, when I asked about RAF Marine colours, sent me all the AMOs relating to them.

The RAF colours are still available as they are current British Standard BS381C colours. Per A.705 issued 28/8/47, the decks are 632 Dark Admiralty Grey and the superstructure, deck fittings are 631 Light Grey. Phoenix Paints in the UK used to be able to supply these colours in Humbrol sized tinlets and larger cans too. Xtracolor did them too, Also any paint shop should be able to mix those colours.

Very colourful GD47, but wrong era.😉
As far as I know that yellow was only used, very briefly, on the whale-back rescue launches (HSL) very early in WW2. It was dropped pretty damn quick, and replaced with grey, when they started pilot rescue operations in the channel and realised that bright yellow made them easy targets for Luftwaffe Stukas and JU88s.😮💥🔥
The Fireboat /Crash Tender came along about ten years later and was much smaller than the HSL, 46' as opposed to 63'.

Paint scheme that I used taken from official RAF documents as close as possible with modern day paints
Paint finishes
Deck - ‘BS631 RAF Light Grey’ but first spayed with a textured paint I used Halfords grey
Hull- anti fouling - Simonize red oxide paint (on eBay at a very good price.)
Cabin roof - two coats of white primer were also flatted down and left for a day to harden before the first of tree coats of Halfords ‘Appliance White’ gloss

I am at last finishing my 46Ft Crash tender and i would like to confirm the colour scheme of my boat. In the pictures it looks black sides on hull and white on the superstructure and the deck i think is grey. I have been told by one of my club members the hull is a dark blue is he correct?
Looking forward to your replies thank you.👍
