Free plans

Thanks Dave,
yes the old kits do tend to be more constructional than complete, but I was just idly wondering. I usually do my own for anything I have to make, although I did buy Harold Underhill's plans for the Zulu once for a customer model and they were ridiculously expensive for simple dyelines!
As usual, it seems like model boats are the poor relation.
I just like looking through plans, that's all. Gotta have something to do whilst the evening cocoa cools down.
BTW, I have a lot of plans of mahogany classic speedboats if anyone is interested.

Cheers,

Free plans

HI Martin
Looked at the Outerzone site and its Impressive. Mostly covers vintage model plane plans and I wonder if this is the sort of boat plan you are seeking?
Many older model boats were built from semI kits where the parts were supplied pre-cut and the plans were really just a guide to construction rather than a full plan of parts, modern kits are not much different. You can redraw the formers etc from the plans but some effort is required.
There are plans available to purchase but they can be costly and bulky, my RMS Olympic plans run to 6 sheets each 4' x 20' and cost nearly £200.
The model magazines do produce free plans and I suspect many of us have a few in our possession.
If it is a particular model you are wishing to build, I suggest you ask for it by name or type as someone may have a plan you could borrow.

Free plans

HI all,
does anyone know If there's a model boat equivalent of the Outerzone website? one that has downloadable free plans?
I know the guy called Dodgey Geezer does the Eezebilt site, but can't get hold of him.

Cheers,
Martin
