It was exactly the same for me. When my father died, my brother bought the house. When he recently (2020) had to repair the roof, he asked me to pick up my boxes. These have been up there since 1989. Since 2021 I've been activating my 8 boats one by one.
2 pieces are already active again, the others are brought back to life one after the other. well, what's the point? as a pensioner you have time, but my wife is so in her element that I only have time to do handicrafts in the evenings. Our motto: who rests, rusts!

I look forward to seeing how both of them progress. Also a bit of video on the water. But maybe not a camera on the boats as you cannot actually see how they are performing and how they plane. Both of those hulls lift of the water so well. The Vosper style hull seems to look like they are stuck to the water even though they have lifted off of the water. I just love them. My PT 109 Elco copy, that is also the same style as the Vosper and that rides the water so well and I love the way that turns on the water. They are such good fun.

Found in a packing box that I’d forgotten about when we moved house 20 years ago!! Thought it worth reviving, along side the Huntsman.

Hi Wooders, It seems a long time since I sent you the Huntsman instructions. I am surprised that you are building is it an RTTL . It's looking good. How long is she?

Wooders, after close inspection of your pictures it looks like the deck on the hull is being pulled down in the area of the cross beam, rather than the cabin decks.
Which could have been caused by something resting on it.

Hi Colin, thanks for the reply, yes I have some Easycote and cloth, so I’ll use that.
Only issue I had was that the thin ply deck for the cabin has warped a bit, I’ll rethink the securing of it to the hull.

I agree the hull looks sound and the model is looking good. I think you will save a lot of grief later if you follow that route

Hi Wooders, as the biggest part of my hobby is restoration of vintage models i always seal my wooden hulls with Ezekote water based resin and a layer of lightweight glass cloth.
This not only seals the hull but strengthens it as well.
Being water based it is odorless and dries very quickly, usually ready to sand and paint within 35 minutes. And doesn't seem to have problems with any type of paint.

Hull looks ok, checked all joints, I do have some fine glass cloth and odour free resin so I may go that route. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Hi Wooders
After many years most models can and do show signs of distress. Glue joints may have held but the wood can and does split along the glue lines. Can you post some pics of your hull as many here will have experience of restoration and be able to advise. Many now use fine laminating cloth to cover their hulls and there are water based resins if the fumes from polyester resins bother you. If you soak your hull in a test tank for an hour or so any leaks will become obvious
