the way i drive airboats reverse might be a a necessity! But as the asdic instructor said in Sink the Bismark, all it takes is practice, lots of lovely practice.

Very good Chris,
Hope you ordered the Programmer as well. Saves a lot of beeping around😉

Must admit I also wondered about reverse!
Airboats I have seen, models and real ones in Florida, all seem to reverse course by doing skidding U-turns. S'pose it might help you to back out of the reeds though.

More ideas later. Gotta go and get fed by Gisela now. 😋😊

Hi Chris, You may not want reverse, as unless you have a way of locking the prop onto the shaft, it will undo the prop nut and throw the prop when in reverse. Could be dangerous !

Hi Chris,
Best data I can find is this-

"Prop Test Data MX2212-920KV
Voltage(V) Propeller
(inch) Throttle Current (A) Watts(W) Thrust(G) RPM
(RPM/Min) Efficiency (G/W)
11.1 APC 9X6 SF 85% 11.2 115 470 6150 4.09
APC 10X4.7 85% 11.3 120 680 6100 5.67
GP 10X4.5 90% 10.5 116 685 5763 5.91"
That's exactly as I found it here-
https://www.made-in-china.com/showroom/dodolooks2015/product-detailQXLJbVPYgqhM/China-Mars-Power-Mx2212-Kv920-Brushless-Motor-Cw-for-Dji-Phantom-F450-F500-F550.html
Looks like they tried to import a chunk of a spreadsheet page into their doc🤔
Most Apps / Spreadsheets / Websites will turn it into pure text, UNLESS you insert it as an image😉
Motor seems to be intended for a quad copter/drone.
As far as I can make out the max current at ca 85 -90% throttle is around 11A on a 3S LiPo.
No data on stall current, but I guess you don't get much pondweed at 200feet 😁
No data for 100% throttle either - so leave the lead boots at home!
Still it gives you some idea about what size prop to use on your airboat.
So any reversible 20A+
My goto BL ESC for up to 30A (180A peak) is the Hobbywing QUICRUN 16BL30, very reliable and efficient, will give you bags of safety margin as well.
I get mine from Krick here in Germany,
https://www.krickshop.de/Electronics-Motors/R-C-Sets-and-accessories/Electronic-Speed-Controls/Fahrtregler-Quicrun-WP16BL30-Brushless.htm?shop=krick_e&SessionId=&a=article&ProdNr=67055&p=350&
but if you Google some UK sources should pop up.
User manual attached. There is also a Programming Card available which simplifies the setup enormously.
Have fun.
Happy boating ... er flying ... er floating ... er ... Aw shucks🤕

what size ESC for motor I don't have a lot of info on

I have a Marspower MX2212 920Kv brushless motor that I want to use in air boat I am making, but the only tech details I can find is the no load current rating of 0.5A, the stator dia is 22mm and the motor length, less shaft, is 24mm.
I am not too cognisant with all the ins and outs of brushless motors and ESC's so would be grateful if anyone could give me some idea regarding what size ESC would be right for this motor. The only things I know for certain is it needs to be waterproof, and have reverse.
Any help gratefully received.
Thanks
Chris
