Zippkits 650 kv outrunner

Thanks, i hav looked at both mfgrs' products on amazon.ca I'm reluctant to buy highly-processed lead (?) when the ads don't give enuff info for me to figure out how much weight I wud be purchasing. I purchase quite a few things off amazon.ca for this fantastic hobby but ballast won't be one of them. Think I will go check out BassPro for large fishing sinkers + bulk buckshot used by reloaders

Rod, I’ve found Crossman bbs on Amazon for a fair price, cheaper than Daisy. Springers coming right along too!!

Yes, I hav purchased one for my "currently-building" single-engine Springer tug from ZIPP. I also purchased a twin tug but will be using brushed motors there as I hav them to hand, $$$ already invested incl the brushed ESCs.

I shall be using dual 6V sealed lead acid (SLA) batteries in both tugs rather than LiPO's & expensive ballast ( I wud need to drive a very long way to BASS PRO to buy buckshot )

Two photos of the single-engine under construction, my first wooden hull in decades. Gorilla glue & CA, my my my how construction has improved since the 1970's .... especially appreciate the quality of lasercut plywood

I hit the wrong button, and if I do that I can’t delete the page, so I thought I’d give a little info on the motor I’m using in my Taucher Wulf.
The Zippkits 650kv outrunner is a quality unit. It’s made for Zippkits by TFL, who is known for making motors for the fast electric crowd. This is a 36 mm outrunner designed for working boats and tugs. Lower rpm than most motors of the same size and high torque. The Springer tug that Zippkits sells weighs around 6-8 pounds, and that is what this motor was designed for. My Taucher weighs in between 14-15 pounds fully ballasted, and she was designed to run a brushed 550 fan cooled motor, something akin to the Speed 600. I get good performance and run time with this motor. I think 15 pounds or so is probably close to the upper limit for the motor. It never gets hot but it does get slightly above ambient. This motor should be a good match for anyboat that needs a slow turning torquey motor of 15 pounds or less. I’m really tickled with this motor!!
You can find this motor here:
